Autodock has gone rogue

Twice today while I was making money runs I had the autodock just go bonkers. It didn't even aim for the mailslot, just nose first into the station wall-- hard enough to take a ring off the 6A prismatics on my Cutter.

Then this happened:

That T9 came in and rolled to dock, my autodock just started going and pushed him back to the wall. Luckily for me, the station was kind enough to destroy him so I could get out.

I have been having the same issue in a Vulture in Meredith City... always when leaving the station, face plants into the wall randomly. So yeah now I cannot trust it, guess I can use that slot for something else. Thanks for bringing back and old bug Fdev!

I just hate the new auto land thing, really annoying!

lol in the original beta auto dock was downright dangerous. Was fun to see if you survived it.

How many of these threads need to be posted before you peeple see that the DC is designed to crash you if don’t pay attention?

Ditch the the thing and fly your ships, did this years ago and now I shake my head at all the sad tales.

It’s Elite DANGEROUS!

Though it seems less and less as time goes by.

How does it know if I'm paying attention? Does it think I hit "launch" and then go to make myself a sandwich in the 23 seconds it takes to leave the station?

What's so DANGEROUS about flying out of a station? Is that really the difference between men & boys around here? You're more than welcome to try precision flying with the crap setup I have here. Then tell me AD is a waste. Plus, what else are you going to put in a 1 slot?

Long time ago when I used it, the DC would try to land me through the SIDE of stations as well as other hiccups.

For a while, Belugas would hover outside of stations and then start their run through the slot when I made my exit. You get tangled with those stupid things in a slot and BOOM! So you can’t surrender control.

The game doesn’t monitor your every move, but it wouldn’t surprise me if once in a while, a programming sequence triggers an “issue” with a landing.

So for me it’s not about men and boys, it’s about experience with the DC and its evil ways.

Again, some time back, even the traffic controller would insult you, tell you to learn to fly, if you landed via the DC.

In some ships, heat and energy consumption is critical, so eliminating all extraneous crap can make a difference.

So you could say there’s history between me an’ the DC.

A perfectly legitimate reason to hate it.

I'm just tired of people judging others for using it. I manually docked a T7 once, racked up 1,200cr in fines for repeatedly blocking the slot. I can't fly precisely with my current setup. Using the keyboard for thrusters is just not the way god intended when he invented the spaceship back in the '50s. And my joystick is so old it needs an adapter to connect to USB. Once my new stick gets here, maybe I'll be able to fly better. Once I get a second stick, I'll be able to really practice and fly like a real spaceman in FAO mode. Until then, I do what I have to do to make the game playable for me.
