Automatic mining extractors

Cruising around a planet and I have come upon a bunch of Automatic Mining Extractors. Can you destroy them to get the canisters or is that considered illegal?

Are they Wanted? If not, then it would be considered criminal.

It would be cool to have a couple of these on our own and also let them extract elements like Arsenic, Zinc, etc.

Well google was my friend. When targeted they didn't come up as illegal or anything. So, recalled my ship (for the fast getaway), and shot one of the extracters. No alarms, no skimmers, thing went boom and drops some 'extracted minerals' as cargo. 5 extractors, 5 cargo varying from cheap to quite expensive. Collected them all, they didn't show up as illict cargo or anything, so sold them back at the station.

I found some of those too, didn't really know what to do with them. They weren't guarded by skimmers

Hint : you can Datalink-scan the Extractors from the SRV. The scan will reveal the content of each individual Extractor.

Yes. When you destroy them, they create mining fragments which are not illegal (and each one is a ton of whatever material is shown). They don't create canisters (and so can't be marked as stolen/illicit).
