Automatic Yaw to left using Joystick

Hi all, so, after almost a year i wanted to play ED again and i'm using a joystick; the VKB Gladiator, whenever i try to play i'ts impossible because the ship just starts to yaw to the left all the time, i have no clue of how to solve it and i hope someone can enlight me.

Thank you all.

Sounds like your stick needs to be calibrated. If it's a very slight drift then you might just have to put in a deadzone in the controls as one of the first things that seems to wear out first on every stick I've ever owned is the return to the centre position.

I am running the Gladiator II with SCG grip.. It's a bit of work to get it setup right.

Run the VKB utils : VKBDevCFG and VKB_Joytester . You should be able to calibrate ( or re-calibrate ) the joystick and validate it is working correctly. The windows utils may or may not, they weren't made for the Gladiator.

Both of these will tell you if the joystick has an issue.

I'd also hit the VKB forums. Lots of folks there that can help.

Exactly this, use the VKB software to do your calibration. I've also found the VKB forums to be extremely helpful if I ran into any issues.

thank you all, i'll try to calibrate the joystick and check for issues, i'll let you guys know how it goes :))

Well, apparently the joystick is calibrated, however, this issue is still here.

Is there any parameter ingame which can cause this issue?

Easy solution: Go to the joystick yaw settings in Options>Controls and slightly increase the Z-axis (yaw) dead-zone until the yaw stops.

Guys, i did all the previous things, gladly, now i know how to calibrate the joystick and adjust the sensibility/dead zone. But none of these things were the problem...

I found out the problem was that elite dangerous was using the joystick throttle axis for the Yaw function...

I changed the axis + adjusted the dead-zone, now it works perfectly and i feel a bit stupid.

Thanks again and fly safe!

HAHA ! Same sort of thing has happened to me before, so I feel your pain. Well, it's all good now.

How do you like the joystick ? Personally, I can't go back to the T16k or Saitek. This thing has spoiled me.

I ended up programming the ED unrecognized buttons ( above the 32 button limit ) to duplicate the keyboard commands. Helped a lot. I don't touch the KB now when I fly.

I love it, the feeling of the buttons and the grip are really good and it feels smooth, but solid at the same time (damn, pressing that trigger is therapeutic). I bought it to replace a thrustmaster t16000M who broke before a year of use, the yaw axis just broke in no time, what a shame.

the only downside is that there are only 2 buttons (4 logic buttons) on the grip but it's not a big deal once you get used to it.

Regarding the KB, i don't dislike to play using it, maybe one day i'll buy a throttle, who knows, but i'm fine for now, i do not longer invest that much time in playing ED as i used to do before so it makes no sense to buy new stuff.
