Available but unobtainable

I think displaying unobtainable missions is fine by all means, but it es me off how larger rank requirement doesn't equal better rewards.

I've seen Entrepreneur and tycoon level delivery missions with rewards less than a 100k. WHO THE HELL are those missions for??

Elite explorer here, in general the missions are not great. The entrepreneur missions pay a heck of a lot better.

I'd be happy if they got rid of Horizons related missions in my 1.5 game.
The rest are fine, they show what you need (rank/relationship/etc) which is useful info.

IIRC they mentioned doing just that in one of the patch notes, which makes total sense. Guess somewhere something didnt work well, and I expect them to fix that before too long.

Yeh, this is indicative of either the minimum values being too low or there being no minimum at all (and the value is just multiplied by the rank but the base value is the same random range for all missions).

FD could use adding in a minimum limit per rank (or dramatically scaling up any minimum values that do exist).

Same probably goes for maximum value.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that I have visited stations where the unobtainable list is overflowing and there is not a single available mission offered. Nothing. And these are places where I have some rep with the local factions. I don't think hiding it is going to alleviate the problem and the BB can't possibly be working as intended.

I've seen the same thing. Many times. There are a bunch of unavailable missions but no available ones. Doesn't make any sense. And I agree that it seems that the trading missions are always one rank above the one you have. I thought I would get more trading missions when I got Tycoon but now, they invariably require Elite. I think the missions are borked at the moment.

Well, I play both in Mac OS X and in Windows. I never seen any surface missions when playing in OS X. So, I'm not sure what the problem is here. I don't recall seeing any surface missions in the unavailable missions. They just don't show up, as intended. At least, for me.

I have to agree, if I can't run the mission then I don't really care to see it, just takes up space. I don't need it pointed out that I need to be one rank higher to get that mission.

i know, i know... but you read these threads on "i fly a python, because it can lnd on outposts, because i like doing missions" before buying your anaconda? if i fly my python with 128 cargo and an srv hangar, there is always a mission to play.

an anaconda is a good choice, if you don't want to play missions. fill it with cargo racks and go bulktrading, or take it into a CZ/RES. you don#t need missions to play the game.

This. +1 rep

It's simply to show you what you can achieve. It's a very commonly used game play feature.

It really doesn't make sense in this context. Especially when it's frequently the entire mission board that's unobtainable. The point is to give the player some direction to engage in various play styles, not rub their nose in the things their current ship can't do. Giving missions with ranks too high just serves to show off the diminishing returns on the payouts. They're all the same regardless of rank, save a few Elite missions with more expository text.

The do serve as a means to work out with whom you need to be aligned to gain permits to locked systems. The 'get permit' mission will be unobtainable but the giving faction will be visible.

Your complaint isn't that they can be seen though. It's the lack of suitable missions.

One of the reasons why I've added a Python to my fleet is to have access to more missions. I've missed out on a few which had a +1M credit reward because the Condy I was flying can't land at outposts. I'll continue to use my Condy as my Primary Trader and the Python as a outpost trader/haulage mission ship.

But yeah, I hated the way I was offered better paid Tycoon missions, and as soon as I got to Tycoon, those 'better paid' missions were now Elite only. Pure goalpost moving that.

Jim Bowen missions... Here's what you could have been doing, but no! (and they would still only pay buttons!!!). ;)

This is another reason they need categories for the missions, only need to open up the unavailable if you want to see what lies ahead. categories would also offer up the ability to select the mission type that appeals to you most.

So I finally saved enough for an anaconda, but I should be prevented from doing missions because I'm piloting an anaconda? Um, no.

I like the idea of the "hide" button as the list seems to annoy a lot of other people.

I personally scroll through the unobtainable list. It quickly gives me the state of the factions and what they are doing without having to look through trade routes, system info screens, states and pending states. So for me it would not get hidden, but people play differently.

What if I wanna pilot a big ship but still do missions? Because that is "my own trail" that I was promised to be able to blaze? I know I can achieve everything in the game without doing a mission. That's beside the point, though, if I WANT to do missions.
