It just arrived today - Founder's Edition Avegant Glyph.
With Elite in SBS and after a little fiddling and fine tuning I have to say this is an amazing experience. The audio quality is phenomenal, and the video - screen-door free. I would liken this to playing Elite in a movie theatre, about 5 rows back.
I'm sure the full-blown VR experience is even better, but this does offer one little advantage - I can glance down and see my keyboard or not stick my straw up my nose trying to get a drink.
I was unsure how well Elite would work with this, but's pretty much spot on, and head tracking of the Glyph is outstanding. Going back to an ordinary monitor might be quite a challenge.
