average expedition time?

Hi all,I was just wondering what your average time on a exploration is. I am slowly heading towards the core and I am about 4000 LY from Sol. I am cheery picking systems as I go looking for water worlds and ELW's. I have been on this exped now for approx 5 weeks and at this rate I might reach the core in about a year or two. I'm just not sure I have the staying power to complete this journey. I sometimes finding myself thinking that I'll just make a dash for the core just to say I've been there, but that seems to defeat the idea of this exped in the first place. I would like to return home to Sol with a wealth of info to sell and so I keep heading outwards (I just don't want to ever feel bored with the game because I like it so much)

I've never been away for more than about 6 weeks...

Some people have been away for a year+ I believe...

So you're going to get very different answers :)

My first trip out was a jaunt to the core to take my Clipper to that big hairy black hole in the middle of the galaxy.

I planned a six week round trip. I was out for just over four months.

My second trip I was kind of aimless, and didn't get far before I took a break.

My third trip is in progress. I will take about three months to reach my destination, and probably 6+ to get back home.

My Sag A* trip took about 6 months total.
around 5 months there, and 1 month back.
due to:
only an hour to play every other night.
space madness at certain points.
not sure how to pace myself.
lots of freezing (I play on Xbox. boooooo).
just trying to figure out where to go (like others said, pick fun things along the way to see!)
All in all, I made 55 million on the trip, got my name on the cool things I wanted (hooray for 4 ELWs in one system, and a ringed ELW in another, plus a few black holes, and LOTS of neutron stars!)
Really, like everyone else said, you just have to do it for the love of exploring.

I did my trip to Sag A* last year - between April & the end of June - so around 2-3 months was the longest trip Id done to date.

Prior to the core trip I spent a couple of months going on longer trips (in LYs rather than in time). this gave my an basic idea on how I would enjoy Exploring - & I loved it.

Currently past the core now on the Distant World Expedition, so it could be July or even later b4 I return - so this will be my longest expedition so far

I still am on my first expedition.

It's been about 6 months now since I set out to the core and just a few days ago Barnard's Loop finally came into view again.
What a feeling finally seeing something familiar in the distance after so many months out in the black.

The trip to the core took me about 2 months. After hitting the core I continued on and eventually entered the Sagittarius arm with the aim to follow it up eventually entering the Orion Spur.
That however took a lot longer then I expected. :) (Black Holes, Neutrons and Nebulae can be so distracting)

I am now 3.5kly from home and can't wait to dock safely. (Although I am getting more anxious the closer I get to the bubble. I started coming across wrecks now.)

Ive just begun my first Sag A trip. This is also my first exploring trip. (Merope doesn't count I'm guessing!)
Having read these posts it's just sunk in what I've got myself into.

Currently parked on an undiscovered, empty, ice bound rock in between our spiral arm and the "body" of the Milky Way.

Maybe I should turn back? Keep my ice rock and weigh it in with Universal Cartographics?

Maybe not.

3-4 months. I tend to pick a target system and gradually work my way there. DW is the first time I have been a tourist and visited the nebula, as my main reasons for exploring have been for first discoveries. I have thousands of those now, so am not really interested in any more so I am happy going to the places that have been well mapped.
