Avians and aviaries, other than ostriches and such (raptors, parrots, exhibit birds, etc)

It would be very interesting to have raptors and parrots as habitat animals, you could overtop them with a mesh ceiling which could be re purposed as a way to avoid escapes from climbing animals as well. Larger birds like parrots and raptors would be great for this, and would also provide amazing opportunities for conservation education since they're so threatened worldwide and many, such as vultures, are very misunderstood. You could also probably repurpose 2 or 3 models and behaviors amongst them all. Smaller birds could be housed in exhibits. We have invertebrates, why not birds?

Yeah, I find the lack of birds disturbing. I personally they should just make the raptors flightless, I have been to so many zoos where they have bald eagles open air (because they are rescues) or more often vultures just out in the savannah exhibit, it might be a little wonky but that is how zoos keep African vultures. Parrots too, most of the time macaws are displayed on open air perches, I only have seen a handful of macaws kept in cages. I outlined how I would code smaller perching birds in my wishlist, basically because I want to build walk-through aviaries, and I would prefer macaws, owls, and hornbills done that way as it would look really good, and not just a new placable exhibit type aviary

It would be very easy to create aviary building pieces even if the birds don’t fly around too much. It’s something I would really appreciate and as I’ve said elsewhere, could also be used for housing animals like primates and cats as well as birds.

I am all for this, and I do feel that implementation might not be as challenging as others think. Animations might be tricky, but I really don't think the mechanics would be all that different than what we have for climbing.

I whole-heartedly agree! I would love to see both aviaries and aquariums in the game. I love the new Exhibits mechanic, but I think it could be expanded upon to give us even more options for our zoos.

I agree with everything you're saying except for the exhibits thing. I want to build aviaries even for smaller birds. Now, they might only be 1x4 or 2x4 squares in size, but I don't want birds in exhibit boxes. Those feel too small, and honestly, birds routinely kill themselves flying into glass because they can't see it. It'd feel really unrealistic to me.

Besides, while an insect or a snake can be happy in a relatively small habitat (happier actually than too big of ones!!!) I think birds just need more space. I want my precious featherballs to have huge, luxurious aviaries with trees and bushes and waterfalls. <3

Also: My local zoo has a GIANT aviary with dozens of bird species in it--and it's a walk-through enclosure!!! You get to walk into this enclosure and walk through a beautifully landscaped space and watch and listen to all the birds, and it's amazing. I want to build that for my guests.

It would be nice as habitat animals but they could just as well use looped animations as well.
