Avoiding civil war?

Me and my wing just won a civil war with our minor faction:D One station is now ours!

But the defeated minor faction is directly after the war at the same level of influence as we are and our pending state is again a civil war.

I know there is a three day cooldown of this pending state till the civil war begins.

is there a way to avoid another civil war? maybe by destroying their security vessels? Or just by rasing our influence to a specific delta against them?

Just keep doing missions for your faction.

Activate another state. Only one state can be active at a time so you'd need to push for another one to delay a civil war. Whether it's you or someone else.

You've got three days to push for any of the other many states. I'd suggest doing as much trading as possible to put yourself in a boom or a bust state which would be preferable to Lockdown when you destroy security ships.

Or was that Civil Unrest?

Anyway just do more missions and you can ether lock yourself in another state for a few weeks or at least pull 10% difference ahead of the faction in question to avoid civil war.

thanks adhock, +rep

we have traded a lot and we have now 9.6% more influence and two pending states, boom and civil war.

i hope we can avoid another civil war by trading, missions are most time zero available.

If it's already Pending - it's too late.
Civil War will supersede any other State when active.

Whenever a Civil War or War starts at a constellation that risks falling into yet another Influence Match after you Win, you have to
a) push your Faction beyond that critical Influence region during the Pending Phase
OR
b) push your Faction during the Conflict beyond that critical Influence Region

Only above two Options can prevent getting an undesired "rematch".

Either way - your Faction will enter Civil War in no later than 3 days (standard Countdown Period, beginning is indicated at 1st day of Pending State).
But this time around, you already pushed your Faction while the Civil War was pending and left the undesired Influence Match already - essentially executing Option a) and thus saving you from a 3rd Conflict.

Yeah Trading will do the trick.

As long as you trade at the station owned by YOUR faction then YOUR influence will increase. Bring in some heavy Cargo Transports, do a lot of ABA trading and you should be golden.

Does the direction of the trading matter? Should I prefer to buy at my local faction system market, or to sell there?

ok thanks!

i think i understand now:
the first civil war started as we were at the same influence level.
we won the first civil war and gained a station.
but because we had the same influence before, another civil war was pending right after.
now we pushed our faction during the pending second civiil war above the critical influence (5%??)
we face now the second civiil war wich is not avoidable.
if we win this second civil war, we will not face a third one because we have a high enough difference in influence before the second civil war starts.

do we gain another station if we win the second civil war?
how much more influence do we need exactly to avoid triggering a third pending civil war?

I actually don't know what exact Delta qualifies for a Trigger (I always aimed for a clean 0.0% perfect match and achieved that rather often - thinking about it , kinda funny I don't know the exact figure after all this time ;) ).
Just based on experience, it's 0.5% or less. Probably less, the Trigger Window is rather narrow.

If you win the rematch and the other Faction still controls any assets, you'll indeed get the best of their remaining assets from them in that System.

PS.
Civil War needs 3% Delta to be won; a War requires 5%.

Once its pending, you are going to go to CW at some point, there is no removing it. best thing to do is missions to get beyond the 5% mark and then it will only last 3 days assuming you maintain that gap or increase it.

Only if the other faction has another station. this could be anything including those horrible useless non landable places on planets.
Get beyond 5% and you should be safe.

There's been a lot of inconclusive testing on this one.

Some people have reported loss of influence when selling to your station, others have reported gains. Most agree that buying from a station increases it's reputation as it's increasing it's wealth stat.

Ultimately I'd say keep an eye on it when selling but everyone does agree that the best way to increase influence by trading is to trade at the station owned by the faction.

As to the question asked about gaining another station via another civil war. Yes, if a faction has control of more then one station, you can gain control of a second station if you win the second war. You can only lose/gain ONE station per war so if you want to own all the real estate, you need to maintain your influence level and THEN push for higher influence once you've cleaned house.

Stations are good to own. Ground Starports are a good thing to own too. Avoid taking settlements if you can.

How do you trigger a new civil war, it seems that everything you win the war you gain some new stations.

Ether bump up the losing faction or lower yourself to their level.

Generally the more influence a faction has, the more powerful it is so the more stations it owns. It could own two or three of the stations in the system and/or with the inclusion of Horizons, potentially the above and two or three settlements.

Factions can and will run out of real estate to give. There's only so many stations in a system. At that point, you just need to avoid losing.

I believe it is trade profits that generate the influence, not just trading. So you need to be selling cheap (or free) goods there that are in high demand, to maximize profits. Buying there and selling elsewhere doesn't count. I believe selling products from mining is still the best way to maximize trading influence, since all the money made from mining is profit.

To the best of my knowledge, it's well-understood:

  • Selling in demand goods to a station buffs the influence of the station owner and contributes to boom.
  • Buying goods from a station buffs the influence of the station owner and contributes to boom.
  • Selling goods that are not in-demand (i.e. scrap to an industrial) undermines the influence of the station owner and contributes to bust.
  • Selling to a black market undermines the influence of the station owner and contributes to civil unrest.
