Avorion

Got this game since some days. Its simply amazing. Space Engineers, Freelancer and X3 had a baby and this came out. The galaxy is huge and you can setup factories and fleets even in coop.

Look whats going on in this list: https://steamspy.com/.

Seems like this is a buried gem just waiting to be found by space nerds. I can recommend it to anyone liking any of the games i mentioned above.

After reading the Wiki page I am tempted to take a punt on it, 'tis only £13.

'Ships are objects that can be controlled by the player in Avorion. They are made of blocks and are capable of moving and flying. When a server creates a new ship, it is usually randomly generated' I'm going to reserve judgement on this one until Ive seen it....:|

Edit - I watched a few youtube vids tonight, I wont be spending any money on it.

Can't get enough of this game now. It's raw, but has potential. Also, there's plenty to do already.

Procedurally generated ships are weird and blocky because their generator is very simple. It doesn't take many building mechanics into consideration. Although, I do like some of the random designs. They're kind of retrofuturistic in a sense. Alien style, or Red Dwarf perhaps :)
Here's what I've cobbled together this evening.

Anyone playing this these days? Has great reviews - the next release looks good - seems to be a strong modding community.

I'm thinking about picking it up

Played it yesterday, after shelving it a while ago. Still pretty good. They've definitely worked on the game, it's still improving. Even got a small DLC out that costs like 5 dollars, which will appeal to criminals and smugglers alike apparently :)
