Award bounty on the percentage of the damage done.

I installed the game for the first time this weekend. I've played about two hours in total. I took my starter ship and travelled to a system with a High RES and there I just shot a few ships before the Feds blew them up. I made over 3M in 2 hours and now have enough for a reasonably fit Cobra MkIII.

That rate of progression removes all the fun from the game. If it's not at least a little bit hard then it's not even a little bit fun.

Fix it so that players are awarded a proportion of the bounty based on the percentage of the damage that they did.
 
There are far more effective ways to make money than bounty farming.
If you go core mining in your cobra, you'll be making 20x that an hour. 😁

Bounty farming actually levels out quite early on in game.
My Corvette and Anaconda barely make any more credits per hour than my Python/FDL did, despite costing more than 4x as much.

Very much this. If you want to really make money, BH is not the way to go.

That being said, i also would hate your suggestion. I sometimes play with friends. When we do that, we go BH together. It's one of the best group activities in the game, in my eyes. But they are still in much smaller ships and thus have less firepower. With this suggestion in place, my mere presence would mean that i get all the money and they would earn very little. It would effectively kill the most prominent non-PvP group activity.

We've been there. BH once was along the line of "last hit takes the money". You entered a HAZRes at a CG. There was half a dozen players active, everybody for himself. Nobody liked to fly in a wing, as that just meant reducing the payout.Then things were changed to the present system. Suddenly people started to be social and fly in wings.

Undoing any of that seems to be a bad idea to me, i am sorry.
