OMG. Just trying to make a bit O dosh to buy a carrier (I get it, strip mining is supposedly more efficient), but I do luv core mining. I would love it if the servers stop having a stroke and giving me "Mauve Adder" connection issues, but that's another tale. Playing since 2017 off and on and nvr had connection issues til today. SIGH.
Anyhoo, I use VA like many other CMDRs. Its awesome and the full version is fairly cheap even if yer using the Canadian Peso like me. I use VA to a lesser or greater degree in all my games and ED lends itself to VA perfectly. It also makes perfect sense from a roll-play perspective. I mean could u imagine being in the 34th century and not talking to ur onboard computer?
Anyhoo, blah blah. I have a damn expensive HOTAS and I hate the idea of constantly depressing the damn trigger for the Pulse Wave Analyzer. I'm not gonna ruin my VKB stick because I'm mining fer Opals. Seriously FDEV.. PPL shouldn't have to buy Voice Attack. Please make the PWA a toggle and not part of the fire group stuff. ALSO.. it hurts after a while. Not gonna get carpal either lol.
Anyhoo, If yer using VA(even the free version will do this for u i think) you can...
Assign yer PWA to a fire group as normal(lets say primary) and in my case that's my trigger.
Make sure you have yer trigger assigned to a keybind in addition to yer Hotas trigger. I use Rctrl +P
Come up with a voice command to initiate yer PWA. I say "Pulse"
--Now usually in VA when u say something you want the key pressed once and released. In this case you want to select "press keys and hold until released"
-- It's great. Now when I say "Pulse". The analyzer keeps doing it's thing forever. So much better! I'm not gonna injure myself or break my expensive trigger.
--(AND remember.. the PWA is assigned to a fire group(LAME), so if you change yer hardpoint selection while it's going, whatever you change it to will fire that thing.)
--but it's a PWA.. yer only using it in a ring so shouldn't be an issue.
Now we just need to make a voice command to stop it. I use "Disengage Pulse" and It stops
I go into VA and make a new command "Disengage Pulse", but instead of selecting "press and release key(s)" or "press key(s) (hold until released)", I select "Release Key(s)"
I even assigned the same keybind Rctrl +P.
So now when I say "Disengage Pulse" the PWA stops. Perfecto!
But yes FDEV please make the PWA just an on/off toggle. Currently we're all just risking breaking our expensive equipment by constantly holding something down or in or whatever and/or giving ourselves a repetitive stress injury. It s a no-brainer IMO. Im sure all you heavy-duty miners that use VA figured this out ages ago, but for me it was an awesome littel QoL upgrade I noticed today. loving it.
