It's been toned back down a bit with the release of PB2. Maybe not as far as Alpha 1.1, but enough that it's a useful tutorial again.

Considering that Standard Beta hasn't started yet, Frontier gave Standard Beta testers a little appetizer with the handful of single player missions. Just as they did with us Premium Beta Testers before PB started.
The real Standard Beta will start on the 29th.
