Awesome unexpected mission scenarios

So this morning I was merrily skimming over a planet surface in my DBX when I stumbled upon a Federal Corvette quietly parked on the ground. I landed, deployed the SRV and (for a very specific reason I won't go into here) spent the new 5 minutes attempting to hop up onto its back. I failed (it was a 1.5g world plus the SRV's thrusters tend to cut-out while you're still quite a long way away from the Corvette), crashed into the Corvette several times and at one point suddenly found myself being fired upon by some Fed fighters that had turned up. Despite an epic chase off a cliff edge and then down along the base of a canyon my SRV was ultimately destroyed. At this point I was restored to my DBX (which was still parked next to the Corvette) and came under further attack. As I finally made my escape (with shields down and hull at 85%) into SC with the now launched Corvette hot on my tail I received an inbox message saying that if I could meet someone in a nearby system they might have a data delivery job for me (good thing it was data since my hold was full of Buckyball Beer Mats). I eventually met the guy (after an interesting session at the Nav beacon avoiding pirate scans for my Beer Mats via judicious use of silent running) and dropped into his low-wake. He handed over the data and told me I needed to get it to a nearby outpost ASAP. Just as I was leaving a fleet of 3 Fed ships turned up, attacked the guy who'd given me the data and started trying to scan me as well. I made my escape, got to the outpost without further incident and delivered the data (plans for a new Death Star perhaps? :p). The financial reward was meagre but the adventure was completely awesome.

:D

Thanks FD - I hadn't realised that these sort of spontaneous NPC mission scenarios were actually in the game. Have any of you had anything similar happen that you'd care to write-up?

Reminds me of when I got a surface scan mission, but had 3 pirate ships taking potshots at my SRV the whole time.....it was so much fun.

Another occasion, I got offered a data delivery mission via a 3rd party. Met with my contact, got the data & then delivered if.....& then got offered a follow on job to liberate military plans. That was really cool too.

What I definitely want to see, though, is higher end missions more frequently generating mission specific enemies. Particularly in the case of haulage or salvage missions, I would like to see these enemies specifically try & go after the mission specific cargo.
