Awkward Stegosaurus feeding animation showcased in Field Guide. Intentional or not?

Around the 13s mark, the reddish brown Stegosaurus appears to be eating from an invisible Herbivore Ground Feeder using the same feeding animation from JWE. Couple this with the fact the original Stegosaurus Field Guide stated that "they'll be able to eat fruit from a ground feeder in your parks". This line has since been edited out to clarify and reinforce that there will not be any herbivore feeders in JWE2.

It makes me wonder why this glitched feeding animation was showcased in the official Field Guide on their YouTube channel. I understand this is supposedly "alpha in-game footage", but let's be real, the term "alpha" in the gaming industry has all but lost its original meaning and is simply used as a catch-all for media shown before an official release nowadays. JWE had the same label on all their pre-release media, yet the game turned out to be no different than what was shown many months prior. With JWE2 coming out this year, that leaves less than 5 months before launch, and likely more around 3-4 months to capitilize on the holiday season.

So is this bizarre animation a simple oversight (hard to believe given it's so obvious), or is this Frontier trying to make things appear to be what they aren't again? Does Frontier want people to think the reddish brown Stegosaurus is reacting to the one rolling around next to it or what? I think we all remember what Frontier pulled with the original JWE trailers and the Velociraptors/Triceratops, Metriacanthosaurus/Deinonychus etc. You be the judge.

It’s hard telling I know some of the animals in planet zoo have animations where the mouth opens and closes quite often. I’m on the fence about this game yet. It appears much better then the first capitalizing on animations and behaviors to make up for the weakness in some ways of not having a modular building system. Also with PK around the corner JWE2 has to be appealing to compete. Now I know I hear that there both two different types of games and there’s no competition therefore but the truth is that’s not true at all. Their both dinosaur games featuring many of the same features so comparisons will be heavily made between the two games for sure and in abundance. But so far I see no reason to doubt this game atm and I was a pretty harsh critic. It does seem greatly improved and should satisfy the majority of players but I am still waiting to see in depth gameplay tho. I love PZ it’s easily my favorite game but keep in mind individual personalities were promised and so far there’s been none. Also animal interaction is limited and different animal species interaction is nonexistent at this point. I’m not totally ruling out that a future update could feature these but so far nothing. Great game amazing even but that’s a big missing feature atm.

I don't think it's reacting to the one taking a dust bath at all. I assumed it was an idle animation when they're standing around (the eating motions), but I never looked closely at the dinos when they eat in jwe so maybe there's a plant nearby it's nomming on.

Considering the first game featured grazing animations and a picture of a grazing Triceratops has been shown (which is completely nonsensical, Triceratops were low browsers with beaks) it's plausible the Stegosaurus was munching on all that obvious grass near its feet.

I think I'm going to have to end up making a direct comparison. It is very clearly the same animation used when a Stegosaurus is eating from a Ground Herbivore Feeder in JWE.

It's tugging and pulling off leaves from a Herbivore Ground Feeder that isn't there. Once you compare the two, it should be impossible to pretend it's anything else but that.

Edit: Ok nvm, I see it now. I had to really watch closely 4 or 5 times before I caught the jerk back in the neck a few times. It looks a little weird now that I can't unsee it, maybe they'll lower the reach to the grass. Maybe they made a feeding bush invisible for the PR shot so you could see the dinos in the spot focused on the dinos (crazy, right?); who knows. Like everything else I'll just wait and see.
