Looks like there's no way to double the bonds you get by doing AX combat now, the bounty bonuses from powerplay do not affect bonds. Is this an intended change? I'm holding onto some bonds right now and wondering if I should just cash them in.
Doesn’t that mean you can go anywhere and not be hassled by PP stuff if you don’t need to pledge to do AX work?I really hope it's unintended and they bring it back, cause now there isn't really a power option for folks that do ax combat..
Bond doubling refers to the ability to double the value of your combat bonds. Before powerplay 2.0 it was beneficial to pledge to one of the powers that offered this bonus if you did AX combat, as ax combat is "bonds" not bounties. In pp 2.0 it was changed from being combat bonds to being bounties. So AX combat no longer benefits from this powerplay reward. So the point is that if you mainly do ax combat, there isn't a power that appeals to you now, which wasn't the case before (there were at least two powers before that offered this).Doesn’t that mean you can go anywhere and not be hassled by PP stuff if you don’t need to pledge to do AX work?
You don't need to pledge to anyone to do anything, however some powers give some bonuses that make them worth pledging to. With PP2.0, miners, explorers, bounty hunters and traders all have a reason to pledge to at least one power while AX pilots have none. You get practically no bounties from partaking in AX combat, only bonds, which gain no bonuses from any power. This is a straight downgrade for AX compared to Powerplay 1.0, which FEELS like an oversight considering how prominent the Thargoid War is in the game. The loss of this bonus might drive people away from AX instead of towards it when there's only one titan left in the bubble.Doesn’t that mean you can go anywhere and not be hassled by PP stuff if you don’t need to pledge to do AX work?
I totally agree. Mommy Duval's pp1 bond bonus is something I will really miss, and if I can make more $$$ outside of ax, I just might do that insteadWith PP2.0, miners, explorers, bounty hunters and traders all have a reason to pledge to at least one power while AX pilots have none. I don't think FDEV think things through when they create system like PP 2.0.Bond doubling refers to the ability to double the value of your combat bonds. Most activities in the game now receive some sort of bonus from powerplay, except for ax combat now.
Have you tested this or are you just assuming from the descriptions?Looks like there's no way to double the bonds you get by doing AX combat now, the bounty bonuses from powerplay do not affect bonds. or maybe they did and didn't want this in the new PP anymore for one reason or another. Just a thought.I don't think FDEV think things through when they create system like PP 2.0.
Probably because you can potentially hang onto bonds for quite a while and then "bomb" a system with them as you turn in. And AX combat might often end up in territory your faction doesn't own so attaching merits to it would lead to background effects that are not desired for on-kill merits either.or maybe they did and didn't want this in the new PP anymore for one reason or another. Just a thought.
Oh it's clear they don't think things through. We've seen nothing but nerfs to merit earnings since PP2.0 released. exploration doesn't give any merits at all now thanks to them being unable to predict someone banking years of data. Earning merits through combat is a Slog with a capital S. There was one popular way of getting merits with rare goods trading and guess what, that one is nerfed too. It's like they WANT people to spend months, maybe years to get powerplay ranks and bonuses.or maybe they did and didn't want this in the new PP anymore for one reason or another. Just a thought.
you don't have to grind for max rank, just play the game the way you like
. Then, with bonuses being a "background" thing you earn as you just play the game normally, that just means powerplay 2.0 is not a MAIN component of the game but a SIDE thing, then why the hell is it so omnipresent? And bounty hunters do? Bounty hunting profits are abysmal even if you were to double your income. Same with merits.Like AX people need double bonds?
Logically, no (sub)power would offer bonuses to AX combat. It's a whole of humanity (superpowers) threat, whereas individual powers have their own specific set of agendas. Not a satisfying answer I'm sure, but it would make less sense to have only one power care about any remaining thargoid threat.Looks like there's no way to double the bonds you get by doing AX combat now, the bounty bonuses from powerplay do not affect bonds. Seems like it was a bug then, and they fixed it.Has anyone tested this with new AX combat bonds from AX activity? The old system (PP1.0) also said Bounties but paid double for bonds. Below is a screen shot of PP 1.0 Tier 5 where it says "Bounty Payouts", yet still paid 2 X for AX combat bonds. If someone who has the rank and new AX combat bonds could test this out, that would be great to know.
