AX Mamba Guidance

Morning,

Firstly, I know it’s not the best ship to go Thargoid Interceptor hunting in. It might even be one of the worst.

My issue is it’s one of my favourite ships but it hardy sees any use as the Corvette is my go-to PVE bounty hunter.

So as like many others I’m Thargoid bashing at the moment, I’d thought I’d re-purpose it to have a genuine reason to dust it off more frequently.

In short, due to it running hot is it worth having some long range thermal beams on the smalls? Will that make enough of a difference to heat? Or should I just stick some small Guardian Gauss on them and be done with it?

I’m going to have x3 of the modded Salvation shards as per my Krait (not interested in flak cannons etc as I’ll just be doing Thargoid base attack stuff).

Also not interested in AFMU’s, repair limpets etc as I’ll just be landing to repair.

I was thinking something similar to this (the Salvation Shards, Sirius heatsinks etc are not on Coriolis yet): https://coriolis.io/outfit/mamba?co...UwIYHMA28QgIwV3fEQA==&bn=Imported Necro Mamba

Long range Thermal Vent works nice. Also Short Range Thermal Vent works better. I have a combination of both on my mamba. Consider what range you will be engaging. If you trying to shoot within 1.5m then two short range thermal beams my work great. But if above that you might want to consider at least one long.

Nice to see another fellow mamba driver. Let me know how that works for you.

Well you could try something like this: AX Mamba (youtube)
I don't bother with the lasers with this build at all. It's mostly for hit'n run type of approach.
I can down cyclops and basilisks with it but there's not much room for error. (A pilot with AF off skills would probably use it more efficiently then i do)
Speed is your ally with this build, use it.

We had that in another thread just recently; a long range beam has plenty cooling capacity, except when your ship runs very hot (and then it is built wrong for AX anyway), and you want to cool down your ship way before getting into attacking range.

A build link would be more useful than a youtube video ;).

Hull tank Mamba is a really bad choice since it simple doesnt have enough slots to fit the necessary tools of the trade. It's convergence is also lacking so scouts will be a problem.

Regarding your build:
2x MRP won't be enough for a hull tank. 3 MRP would be better, but 3 Large MRP (which you cant really fit on a Mamba)
Corrosion (and heating up to deal with it) will be a problem too
D-rated shields sensors with long range are better than 4a with lightweight

You should go for a shield tank on a mamba, but shield tanks have other issues (stay out of lightning range, bigger targets, pip management)

The video shows the build. It goes one by one all weapons, modules, tuning and experimentals.
And my fits tend to change from time to time because i like to experiment.
I don't want to watch a video, sorry. An EDSY or Coriolis build is much more conprehensive and gives a complete overview of the build, including its stats.

If you insist... I rebuild the fitting and here's the link: https://s.orbis.zone/m5s3
But as you can see, it's not a conventional build. No heatsinks, no cooling. But before you shoot the setup down, video shows the performance better than just data.
Also Coriolis don't show enhanced AX multi-cannon and enhanced xeno scanner stats so it's broken data anyway. I guess you are capable enough to imagine what empty slots those go to...
P.S. I think video with both data and performance example is way better than broken coriolis data.

Thanks for the link. I have moved to EDSY long ago, as it is pretty much always up to date with new modules. It takes ages for them to be added to Coriolis, if at all.

Replied on your video.
