AX Missiles even worth it now?

I know the title sounds a tad harsh on the module, but ever since the class 3 AX MC has been added there has been little or no need for the AX missiles as people can now use the damage from the MC's to chip HP down enough to penetrate the heart. only difference is AX missiles deal more hull damage but have no penetration rating (very low) making class 3 MC's the best choice.

honestly the class 3 Missile rack is a bit of a flop, the only advantage is enhanced capacity (by looks anyway, I have yet to use it) dealing the exact same damage as the class 2. unless you plan on killing Thargoids back to back in one hit there is little point in wasting a class 3 slot that otherwise could have a MC on it. if the missiles had tracking things would be different (which will more than likely be incorporated as an engineer effect, just read the material description on 'ship signature data' ;) )

With the rise of the news of the type-10 potentially on the way with it's 4x class 3 slots, I think I will be tanking it up with 4 AXMC's before I consider missiles.

really hoping for an engineer mod like a ballistic cap or something that increases the missiles pen' rating. combine that with seekers and Thargoids never got so easy ;)

I fit one, mostly because if you can't get a continuous bead on the Thargoid, you might have to deal *more* damage using only MCs than what you would if you throw some missiles in there.

MCs have superior damage over time, but Missiles provide a high alpha-strike, and mean you can (possibly) do 10% of damage via missiles and 11% via MCs (with 1% regenerated) rather than 25% damage (with 5% regenerated) just through the MCs.
 
A few shots from missiles would help exert a basilisk heart much faster. Against a cyclops missiles are not needed if you have enough large MC's.

The benefit to a whole missile boat is that you can divert attention to swarms after exerting. Also, if you have a fighter you can switch to the fighter and tell your mothership to hold (if you don't want it to waste missiles) to try and get some heart shots in for yourself.
 
We cannot have 4x Large AX multicannons (no 4 large hardpoints in our ships) so for now 3x Large AX Multicannons + 1x Medium Missle Rack seems like the best combination. But even 4x Large AX Multicannons won't be fast enough for Basilisk shields if you go for solo kill imho

You can fit a C3 weapon in a C4 slot... so yes, you can have 4 x Large AX multicannon (anaconda, for example, 1xHuge, 3xLarge). Also note there is a Large Missile Rack (C3) in the game.

You're right.. forgot about Anaconda.. I'm using a Corvette.
