AX missiles. Just how effective are they against human ships?

Would love to hear some feedback as I can't game right now. Sister is on a warpath... [blah]
 
From what I've seen, they're pretty ineffective. Or maybe they're buggy. Watched a whole load hit some Sidewinders and Eagles, but it didn't seem to do anything. This is something I wish I could test myself, aswell.

I suspect part of the issue may be engineered reactive armor and shields (over 50% explosive resist). You can’t engineer AX with any cool effects like penetrator, thermal damage, or my favorite - drag munitions.

Can’t wait to test them myself.

The damage type is Anti-Xeno, not Explosive.

Thanks guys. Just outfitted a regular missile instead. Engineered for high capacity too, with drag munitions.
 
I've used them in regular combat in a haz rez. They do some damage but they are not that effective compared to regular missiles. That and they are dumbfire missiles as well. So you are better off with the other missiles if you want to use missiles.

They do hold a total of 72 missiles each, not sure if a full load out of 4 is enough though
Hopefully the High Capacity mod works for them. I'm designing a ship built specifically to fight Thargoids and nothing else. All AX missiles and HRPs. Is there some sort of cap on how many you can equip? I was planning on 5.

4 is the cap. You will need conventional weapons to destroy a shield that the thargoid deploys after a heart is destroyed
