AX NPC Weapon tests. Impressive results!

In a few encounters with NPC's I thought I'd test AX weapons on the wrong targets... All were Pirate FDL's. my ship was armed with 2 of each AX weapons...

-AX Multi-cannon is not very effective unless you drown it in lead, This still peels back FDL hull pretty quick though at 3%+ per second with a good line up (even more if most of those didn't miss...)

-AX Missiles deal some serious damage on hits, hard to tell with Authorities engaging at same time, but the FDL was at 20% then down to 0% after the smoke cleared...

- AX FLAK (The real fun one!) Only me and my fighter with AX cannons on this one, he was sitting on 34% when I blasted him with 2 Flak launchers very well placed to it's hull. Immediately down to 0%. Did a lot of dam to shields too..

Go and test them for yourselves, you will be pleasantly surprised to say they aren't meant for it! :)

Interesting results, but remember: NPC hull is scaled relative to your...

-combat rank
-trade/exploration rank
-base ship
-degree of engineering
-ship loadout DPS
-the type of encounter
-NPC rank
-NPC type (police/military/pirate/bounty hunter etc)

Without any/all of the above information, saying "AX weapons are good/bad" is like counting down to zero starting from a random unknown number.

-(pretty much everything g5 where possible)
-moderate(AX weapons with 1 size 4 Beam laser)

-All Pirates

Does that tick any boxes for the effectiveness? All my targets where all the same as far as I know... (I remember laughing menacingly as I slaughtered them with inadequate weapons ;) )
 
I tested the AX Flak Launcher with an I-Eagle against NPCs at a couple of NAV beacons.

Fired the thing at a wanted Cobra III ..... never hit it once (edit - actually, I hit it in the tailpipe, but didn't dent its shields one bit) ! In the end I claimed the kill by other NPCs because I fired my burst lasers at it in the nick of time.

But wow .... the graphics are great ! Very impressive view of the fireworks :D

So I took it to another Nav Beacon and pursued a wanted ship. Fired the fireworks at it a few times, didn't seem to do much damage, if any, but somehow the flak hit a nearby NPC and that got me a bounty ! I departed very quickly.

So, it's back to the plasma cannon for me ... at least when I aim it right, it hits the target and does some damage :rolleyes: But I miss the fireworks.

Yeah, when you hit it does some damage, today I just spent a few minutes gunning another FDL. I couldn't get a direct hit with flak this time. but I did shred it with a good run of the Multi-cannons. even then, I only had it down to 60% before authorities showed up.
