Ships AX Viper MK4 with modified shard cannons

I came up with the idea of getting some usage out of my Viper MK4 for AX-CZ. This Build would be mostly for CG Thargoid events, so that I wont be targeted that much, when attacking the Interceptors.

Havent tried this ship yet in combat.

My question is: Did anyone try a Viper with the modified guardian weapons? Especially modified shards? I can while in idle shoot max 3 times, before it cooks and then wait, until I can shoot again, before I cook the ship further. The PP is fully armored. Heatefficiency is 0,352. Shooting like 3 times with size 2 modified shards and having to wait before shooting again might not be practical in combat. So I would like to hear from the other cmdrs, how is their expierence in small ships (besides DBX, Vulture) with modified AX-Weapons. What would their engineering look liike?

Offsetting the heat is no1 priority.
My ax krait I'm learning with is not shielded and has a low emissions pp in it which in my opinion helps...dunno if the low integrity might bite me in the butt come later today.
My fsd is thermally vented. Plus a thermally venting beam wep.

Building to as cool a spec (armoured pp is an excellent choice btw) is needed.

Yeah, Im also affraid to go with a low emissions PP in a shieldless ship, due to the low integrity. Besides my PP is not big enough to go LE, because I need the energy.

Im thinking of going in my Viper shieldless, but havent done it in a small ship yet.

I have 2 small LR Thermal vent beams on my Viper.

Nah just one you'll need every pip in weps and every joule for those goid weps when firing em
I'm trialling a large turreted beam so l don't have to worry about targeting it hehee... but that's bad...should be gimballed I know..but for now as a beginner it's baby steps for me

Try a build like this.
However, you do need to unlock the tech broker modified plasma chargers - that is if you want to be useful
Regular shard cannons will not do much against anything bigger than a Cyclops and will be mostly useless against scouts. Not to mention you will have more chances to hit a friendly and get a bounty.
Else, you should use a pair of normal gauss cannons, but you will have ammo issues if you go after scouts using the gausses.




Edit: and dont be afraid about low integrity, but you do need to avoid taking hits - that is stay cold most of the time and repair the mrp as soon you get hit
 
I've got 3 medium guardian gauss cannons and 3 medium modified plasma chargers. I'm starting with the gauss 1st see how they pan out...last night I shot em well but man do they get hot if less than 4 pips in weps..handy for getting shot of crap on the hull

@Northpin Thx for the Build. Could I still use my G5 armored PP? As an Effect I would take then thermal spread. It would give nearly the same thermal values. Would be a big deal?

I have 4 modified plasma chargers. I grinded a ton of guardian mats and bought 4 of all 3 size 2 modified guardian weps and a couple of size 1s of each wep.

@Dragsham Yeah, mine are turreted too. Maybe I should switch from 2 size 1 LR TV beams to 1 size 2 LR TV Beam and 1 size 2 modified plasma charger and 2 size 1 plasmachargers.

EDIT: I tried the modded Gauss cannons. Holy cow! Those 4 shots cook you immediately over 120% thermals!

Now trialling a corvette 6k shields 5k hull size 7 scb and 2 large ax multicannons (cheap synth) with 2 modified plasma chargers.
Belly guns a turreted long range thermal vent beam as are the two little beams at the front only their efficient tv.
 
Well that didn't work lol. The shields are a hindrance! When they go down I've no access to sinks! Got fried lol

You can sure you your armored one, but with not as good thermals - which can be seen in the pic you posted (44% WEP heat vs 55% in yours - and that was with a full WEP capacitor)
 
This is my AX Viper Mk4. I initially went with 3 saw plasma chargers, 1 size 1 and 2 size 2. Solid burst damage but the distro was overwhelmed. Currently have 2 saw plasma chargers and one shard cannon. Only use the shard cannon on goid shields while the beam is running while keeping the temps under 20%, so one shot every few seconds, and spam it vs gankers. Mostly a AXCZ ship but have soloed basi and dual clops in it without too much difficulties. Should be capable of a dusa but would be synthing heat sinks and probably limpets to do it.

Went with the double engineered 3a power plant vs a 4a armored/thrermal spread for a couple more m/s with a bump in idle temp. Can swap the AFMU, hull reinforcement, and module reinforcement around to tune it to your preferences.

A bit off topic but here is another off meta AX ship that is also fun to fly. Added bonus is it can be a nice pve pirate lord killer with a few module swaps for new players with limited engineering mats.

AX FAS solo exerts the first hydra heart fairly easily with basic ammo
PVE FAS cannons and pacifiers for a single target reticle and no fussing about with pips
