That is why Our Lord DBOBE gave us the tutorials. Pop them open, dock a sacrificial Sidey a few times and try to hide the Explorer's Stare(tm), as it scares the station ATC

You're not wrong, my first landing when I got back after 5 weeks was one of buttock clenching slowness due to fear of pranging it on the toast rack, mail slot, control towers etc etc.
I think I had something like 2 minutes left on the docking timer, never gone slower in my whole life.
