Back after almost a year - observations

Hello commanders,

I am back after almost a year... (but I was reading this forum regularly...)

Here are few things I would like to say:

* overall stability of the client is improved IMHO. I had no crash (I used to have occasional crashes in the past)

* FPS improved a bit (GTX 560 Ti, Xeon quad core on 1,4GHz, 8GB RAM)
** seems to take a little longer to load detailed textures... stars look "blurred" after jump, but get into shape after a second or so...
** no more FPS drops in ice rings

* new military compartments! YAY! module reinforcement package! yay!

* Engineers do not want commodities ! Hooray!

* MULTICREW
** I tried to help some commander in their fighter for a while... It was not bad, had fun.
** I let some commanders to sit in my Corvettes extra chairs...
*** it was weird, one of them had faulty microphone (strange noises from him, no speech) and I did not manage to find the option to disable wing voice comms (in the upper menu I switched it off, but nothing changed ?)
*** they were not responding to my chat messages
*** I had a feeling they were trying to do me some harm instead of meaningfull gameplay (retracted hardpoints in a bad moment once, luckily nothing more serious (SCBs or Heatsink misuse))... they did not go into fighters, although I asked them to do it several times...
*** the extra pips are just overpowerd IMHO


* AI
** some NPC pirate hooligans actually managed to escape from me when they realised they were no match for my corvette (interesting, because it was in a "help me" USS, second wave)
** low intensity conflict zone - wow, I thought it would be "a walk in the park", but NPCs showed me how wrong I was... Got separated from allies, ganked by them and escaped with 35% hull


* Station trafic controller seems to think that I have just arrived, when I am launching to leave :-D



My love for the game is back (it was actually never gone, I just felt I needed a brake), maybe I will try to mess around with the recently found Alien sites ...

Welcome back!
I also just started playing again last week after a six month hiatus. Now I have a new graphics card (GTX 1050 TI) and my goal for now is to finally become a Duke of the Empire (currently 13% into Marquis) and buy the Imperial Cutter :)

I'm positivly surprised about the optimizations they made:
The Galaxy/System Map now loads in seconds.
No more crashes during hyper jumps.

It feels good to be back.

I am too amining for imperial rank and cutter... but still a LONG way to go...


When you mentioned galaxy map...
That is where I expected some love, but it seems none was given to it function vise... Sometimes its a real chore to select the system I want to select - it keeps selecting systems hundreds lightyears away from the desired one. But bookmarks and yellow markers of CGs are really great...


Also route plotting should be more "inteligent" i think... After boosting the jump range by a neutron star, one can not simply select the destination and let the routeplanner calculate the route (with the prolonged first jump)... One has to manually find some system close to the original route, jump there and replot the route... :/
