Back after long hiatus. What's new?

Started playing at launch and stuck with it for several months. Tried trading, combat and exploration. Largest ship ive owned is a type 9. Soon grew bored and left. Now I'm back and excited about trying new things. Currently working on the road to riches exploration to bank some cash for an Anaconda. Thinking about raising rank with Federal next. Looking for suggestions on what to try to make the game more interesting and positive. I am goal oriented and do better if I have a clear path toward those goals. So if you have any positive suggestions please respond. Also joining a group is possible.

Please only post positive responses. I'm looking for reasons to play!

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Welcome to the forum!

Like you, I'm fairly goal oriented. :)

Try out the Thargoid content CGs that are currently running. If you can make it out to the Pleiades Nebula it will be worth you while to see the beginnings of the Thargoid content arc first hand. Also, there are a lot of new missions since launch like passenger carrying, tourism, surface base scanning, etc. Check those out for some short-term goals.

You can land on planets now and engineer your ship. The core gameplay is the same as it was when you last played

edit to say that combat has had some tweaks, but trading and exploration are still the same

I seem to be in a similar space boat. Have returned to the game after a year or so. I'm currently trading in my Freighter, to afford upgrades and engineering a Python, to run missions and rank up with the Empire so that I can get into a Cutter.

The joy.

Welcome back, CMDR.

As for things to do now, you can head down to the Pleiades Nebula to meet our new "friends". Just don't get too close. They don't like that.

If you want to see something trippy, go land on Mitterand Hollow in the Epsilon Indi system. It's pretty much a rite of passage now.

Oh, and small-scale planetary volcanism. You can find small geysers/fumaroles/magma jets on certain landfall bodies that are pretty neat. Hard to find, though. I think there's a marked one on Europa in Sol.

Really, all the planetary stuff is pretty awesome if you've never seen it before. Find a planet or moon with nice canyons and bring something like an Eagle and fly through them Independence Day-style.

Whats new?... People talking about paying real money for everything. Ships, People to fly your ships, People to fly your friends ships, Giving money to get game money or to give other people money... Stuff like that.
