Back after long time... Carrier gone, ships too?

Hi all, I have been away for a long time, and not surprisingly, my carrier has been decommissioned.
I have found myself floating around my ex-carrier, but I still have my old fleet. In theory.
According to the galaxy maps, all my ships are 0 LY from my position, so they should be in the system. However I have checked the only other carrier present -yes, I was outside the bubble- and they are not there.
Also, they do not appear on the system map.
So I tried to jump to the next star a plot a course from there, but oddly they are still indicated 0 LY from me, so I can't plot any course.
According to INARA, they are all docked to my old carrier -which does not accept docking any more, so I can't go and pick them up. And for no reason one is docked in YAN MUSU and one in BD+74 526.

How do I get back to my ships? Is this some kind of bug?
And slightly related... what's the best way now to make the money to get a new carrier? I miss it...

Go to a station with a shipyard and recall them... as you would do to transfer them to your current location
if the station it's in the same system it's a 5 minutes passage time
Right... ok. Let's see if I can make it, I'm stuck on my mining ship which wasn't exactly equipped for long travel. It would be funny if I don't have the fuel scoop...

You can try using the carrier that you said is already there - if it has a shipyard, you can use it
(hopefully it wont jump away with your ships :D)

. what's the best way now to make the money to get a new carrier?

combat (stacking massacre missions) or Ax combat
Exobiology works too if you have Odyssey and you like to explore
Chaining ground High CZ - if you are good at fps games

And not at last, someone can mount a rescue trip bringing a carrier there and then transporting you and your ships back to civilization.
Fuel Rats or maybe a similar organization or why not - a random commander. Just ask, and i'm pretty sure someone can come to the rescue

One other more costly option, if you have Odyssey- is to dock at that carrier and use an Escape Pod to get back to civilization. But then you'd have to transfer your ships over a long distance, meaning time and credits...

ah... you should have been almost fully refunded for your carrier - you would not miss much of your credits

Has the carrier completed the decomm process? From what you said you can still see it in the system? If so you may be able to add funds to it to pay off the backlog and get it back - see if you still have the Carrier Management ink in your Right Panel.

Right, I have made it, thanks a lot everyone for the suggestions.
I had to reach the closest start with some population and call everything there (and the 10 ships were easy, the 120 modules took longer...).

I do wonder, is all my cargo lost? I had quite some cargo of minerals which I was expecting to sell to pay for the maintenance but I never had the chance do to it. Is it gone once the carrier is decommisioned?

Naaa I didn't like the FPS part. Exobiology was nice, I might do that. Combat was also fun but I would need someone to play with, it's better when you are in a team, and all the people I knew apparently are not playing any more.
Is mining completely useless now? I got my carrier thanks to the diamonds, soon afterwards they kill that revenue and apparently spent some time reducing the rewards for any kind of mining. I wonder if it has become pointless now?

Apparently so, the panel is gone. I have been really unlucky, the message log for the final decommission was from the 23rd of August. I had 2B credits on the account when I stopped playing, but that was almost two years ago, so...

Now I have 6.7B with the refund, I want to sell a couple of ships that I won't use and some modules, that could give me 1B, but I would like to go back to 10B before buying the carrier again. It's a hassle to maintain, but carrying around your fleet and modules is priceless.

I used exobiology to cover some of the costs of getting my carrier, then did a trip in it out to Colonia then on to Sag A* before heading back to the bubble which has funded the next 15 years or so for the carrier, keep most of your money in the carriers bank with just enough for a cutter or two in your account.

So I would say Exo for the funding but some aspects of the Thargoid war are supposed to pay well.

A little tip with your mining.

Keep an eye on your mission boards and carriers.

Mission boards if you have got enough rep will probably give better prices but there are some carriers whose owners are probably selling off via this method are offering very good prices for some materials.

Check your prices on Inara for Osmium, Samarium, Praseodymium and Bromellite, there are carriers buying at 400,000+

Since you like exobiology I'd suggest commissioning a new carrier, giving it Vista Genomics and heading out doing exobiology and cashing it in on your carrier. Make sure you're getting "first footfall" to get the big payouts.

I'll try that. It had just started when I left the game, there were interesting things to find outside the bubble, but it was a bit repetitive. Mining was more fun for me, but I guess I'll have to change.

Oh well, with a carrier I think mining is pretty good. I mine in the metallic ring in Algol, prioritising platinum, palladium and painite, also osmium and samarium which can be handed in for well-paid missions. Any cores you find usually have valuable stuff too.

:( I had so many of those in my cargo

Well when it started Exo was not a huge payer and progress up the ranks was slow, there were complaints so FDev adjusted things clumsily making progress insultingly fast, there were more complaints so FDev adjusted things again.
Now ranks progress is reasonable but the payments are still good Stratum Tectonicas for example pays just under 20,000,000cr as standard and just under 100,000,000cr including first discovery bonus, there are lots of other high priced examples.

Well I have followed your suggestion, I went to Algol and found a double monazite hotspot. Filled up my ship and went Kolaga, sold everything for 130M. It's not anymore the time of the 350M each trip of course, but it's not completely useless either, I would say.
