Back in the Grind

Guys..
Gals..

I feel like a noob again.

I haven't fired up ED in one.. two years. Im not sure when the last time was.

Soo.. I have questions... again.

My first plan is to run this "road to riches" exploring thing and make some $$$.
I have an Asp.. decently loaded up.
I think an Advanced Discover Scanner.
But.. Never was much in to exploring. Not sure how the scanners work. As in... I visit a system then I should (1) use the advanced scanner and then (2) maybe use a planet scanner (or something like that)? I figure that I will need to travel close (how close) to all the planets in the system to get max credits?

I have more questions..
But I'll start with this first and try not to make anyone mad.

Thanks in advance

Edit:
I have something called a Data Link Scanner.. Dont know what to do with it.

Yes. Honk your discovery scanner when you enter a system and then use a detailed surface scanner to scan stars / planets of interest. The ADS needs to be bound to a trigger in a fire group, the DSS is a passive scan by pointing your ship at the object you are scanning. Distance you need to be for the scanner to start varies with the size / mass of the object.

I guess roads to riches is a good way to do this for the credits, but exploration pays quite well these days, so you might have more fun if you just set out and explore a bit on your own, and if you aren't really into exploration, you might want to do something that you are into. Might be more fun... ;)

If you go exploring, don't forget the fuel scoop.
