Back off to the black.

After being back for about 6 weeks Im feeling the wanderlust again.
PP just doesnt do anything for me, I pledged then unpledged in 6 hours.
So decided to head back out.
Im going to head East from Sol right out to the rim and then proceed anti clockwise for as long as I can manage, before either boredom, error or some other mishap forces me to return.
Gone with a DBX instead of an Asp

That's a lot of heat sinks. I survived a month using only 3 shots from one heat sink. So 2 units I'd consider more than adequate.

Why the 2B power plant? I thought were the heaviest ones? An A for improved heat dissipation would be better, if you can't afford them perhaps a D?

Do you need a class 4 power distributor? Could you live with a smaller one? Since you've no weapons or shield I'd be taking a 1D.

For some reason I personally am not going to travel into the black unarmed any more, so i take a shield in my 2nd largest internal space, weapons.

I'm also carrying fuel limpet controller and limpets, just in case someone wants help.

i guess b powerplant for "more hitpoints". i'd change to A for heat dissipation. but i'd change thos amu to rating b, for b rating having more munition than a. enjoy your trip!

Ah, the call of the void...
Pretty good jump range you got there - might consider the DBX over an asp on my next trip. Would actually be quite interested to know how it compares...

Anyways; fly safe Commander.

I have used both but prefer the Asp as it can fit C6 fuel scoop, DBE is limited by a C4, other than that there isn't much in it.

I haven't set off yet so when I go on later I will be making a few changes and going with some of your recommendations.
Doubleskulls, Im going for an extended period, so taking more HSL to be safe, I didnt use all the ones I took out on my last 5 week trip but I'd rather have and not need than need and not have.

Good luck with your expedition CMDR! o7

For my next expedition, I'm planning to head to Sag A* first (for the Buckyball Run of course), then continue onwards to try and join the 65K club, and then travel back home moving clockwise, so hopefully we'll bump into each other somewhere out on the galactic fringe!

If you're setting off from Sol, then please, please, please pop into Galileo station and take the required departure screenshots, and then when you get bored head to Sag A* before returning home. Then you'll get the 'never to be beaten' slowest time ever for the Buckyball Run! :)

The drawback to going with the 1D Powerplant, cannot boost.
I dont have much going in the way of defense so want to be able to boost to get out of trouble a little quicker if I get interdicted.

I strongly recommend going silent when interdicted. The DBX isn't fast, not even when boosting, but with an A-powerplant, it runs extremely cool.

Try it out before you leave, it works really well - saved my exhaust a couple of times in the last two weeks.

Made changes as suggested, apart from 1 AMFU, cant get a 3B where I am and really dont want to be flying around to find one, so going with the 3A.
Apart from that, she's all set.
Will be setting off from Galileo sometime this evening, and taking a pic as suggested for the slowest ever Buckyball run lol
Strangely I have a shade more jump range than I did on my Asp when I did my 5 week tour of the lower regions of the map.

Safe travels CMDR. I hope that 4A Scoop doesn't drive you crazy like it did me. Tis why my DBX is moth-balled right now.

It should be ok, I didnt have that great a scoop on my Asp.
I used to park up in the corona and read stuff on my phone while I scooped

I'm about 12kly from SOL on a similar voyage, approaching the rim and will then follow it around anticlockwise to join the 65k club, then probably keep going around until I get back. In no hurry, I am in an Anaconda with a long range tank, shields and some weapons just in case. Fully laiden I have about 36ly jump range increasing to about 40 on fumes.

May see you out there.

Ok guys so I've set off from Galileo

And this is me 5 minutes later docking for repairs after jumping into a trinary system and appearing right next to a big ouchy ball of hot ness

Good luck commander.

Personally, I always take the smallest A-rated power plant I can fit. The A-rated ones are far more heat efficient for all that fuel scooping.

Greetings Commander! it looks like you're setting out on the relatively same path that I did. Before I set out, I looked at previous expeditions and it seemed to me that most commanders would set out and head directly towards the center of the Galaxy. I decided to head East from Sol (if the center of the Galaxy is North) and to just keep on going until I get bored or until the Thargoids scare the whizz out of me and force me back home! I hope to see you out in the Black!

And now your watch has begun!

Good luck!

Thanks guys, feel free to add me on friends etc if you wish to converse when we're stuck out there, all alone, in the big black emptyness of cold lonely space
