Back to n00b

So the last time I flew was March 2024, just was into other things, but I circled back around to ED and thought maybe I'll do some more exploration. First thing was trying to remember all the keybinds and then figure out how to get back home, so the 23 jumps back to Colonia gave me some time to recall my scanning and jumping skills. Got back to Colonia and set myself up to dock at Jaques Station, deployed Landing Gear just as I was entering the airlock, an immediately got stuck on the grille. Easily lost 300 mil in exploration data, but at least I have insurance! Time for a new expedition, I guess, but I think I need to revisit the Engineers to get my modules back up to snuff.

How did you die though???
I get stuck in the grille all the time when coming in hot. Never seen the rebuy screen.
If you have insurance, your redeployed ship should have all the engineering and modules that your exploded ship had.

Dont get a job as a postman.

Yes the correct time to make your ship bigger by deploying bits from it is after passing through any small gaps, and obviously retract stuff before attempting to pass through such a gap when going the other way.

Commiserations Commander.

couldn't UNstick myself from the grille with my gear deployed. i panicked and the gate guns tickled me a LOT. maybe could have retracted my gear before that? too late to worry about that now.

indeed, like a puffer fish in a shark's mouth, except this shark has bigger teeth.

As stupid as this sounds, you can unstuck yourself by cycling your landing gear. I guess it temporarily cycles collision detection or something like that. If that doesn’t work, immediately relog. It will save your data.

Thanks for the relog tip. Hopefully I never need to use it. I also remembered Anaconda's belly is huge, so I need to keep closer to the ceiling when coming in through the airlock. Managed to get some more practice in, like belly-flopping on a 3.3g rock (and I was CAREFUL about it, too!).
