Back to the Eagle, lots of fun

So in a moment of boredom I took a notion to revisit the Eagle (now that I have the cash to buy whatever I can fit on it) and I'm glad I did. It's a joy to fly.

Maneuverability is so good and the weapons are all grouped super-tight around the cockpit, which is great for picking off modules.

It's also amazing what you can fit on it, I've pasted mine below. I've gimballed the cannons so I can keep spamming them while I line up the railgun, but previously used 3* Fixed Cannons as well.

If your bored one day take on out for a spin for some cheap fun!

I think I tired one, but I love the viper for that. I haven't flown my viper in a bit, it's at some station 100ly away. Can't wait till we can catch a ride to our other ships.

i tried my first Viper last today (as a replacement for my Asp) and immediately went back to my beloved Cobra again. but the Eagle is different enough (and cheap enough to risk) that i might give it a go as a small agile interceptor and keep the Cobra for the bigger stuff.

i have never flown the ED Eagle at all yet: i sold my Freagle in order to upgrade my Startwinder. who knows - it might just be exactly what i'm after.

I buy an adder and equip it to have about 26ly jump range and go fetch my ships, it really does not take much time. I did that for my T7 and yesterday for my cobra. Just remember to sell the module before the adder to get 100% return.

Yeah, I do that too, but now I have adders and haulers and sidewinders all over the galaxy. I keep forgetting to sell them before I leave the station. Mostly because I'm thinking I'll be back, but I end up elsewhere in the galaxy. I really need to hire a crew ;)

Man I loved the Eagle... Probably spent more time in it than I should before working my way up the ladder. With a low price for a fully kitted out bird for the price of an A-rated component in a bigger ship, it would be worth it to buy one just to have for quick flights looking for mischief. :D

I keep going back to my Eagle for a bit of fun. I'll not be getting rid of it. I wonder what they'll be like, attacking in swarms when Wings is released in 1.2.

As I understand it, Reactive surface composite is supposed to be great against kinetic weapons, but weak against thermal damage.

The best allround armor is the much cheaper Military Grade Composite.

Is there a specific reason you equipped Reactive Armor, or did you just go with the most expensive available?

mirrored and reactive cost about the same, don't they? i chose mirrored because i seem to get more laser fire than bullets

i bought an Eagle, kitted it out, took it hunting in the RES... within 20 seconds i was down to 1 shield ring. fighting in my Cobra is like a pub brawl; you hit him, he hits you, but you hit him worse until he dies. obviously that wouldn't work here, so i tried staying behind the enemy and chipping away at him with the 3x G1 pulse lasers. within about 20 minutes i had 110k in bounties, which was surprising, and still had 100% hull, so i'm calling it a win

it's very effective as a light fighter, but you do work much harder than in bigger ships. more of a rapier, less of a sledgehammer. did i sell it after? no, i kept it. i'll fly it again.

Re armour choice, I was on the lookout for real players at the time who generally switch to guns once shields are out. I use mirrored for PvE usually as they typically load up with lasers though not always.

Re eagles in wings, I hadn't thought of that! Eagles will be ace in numbers or as support fighters. Looking forward to it!
