Hardware & Technical Back up Software

First this is not about promoting one piece of software over another , but to inform other players , have what Ive found

I did have software that backed up my important files every few minutes, I was always working on Voice Attack and the keyboard bindings for Elite dangerous, occasionally

Yet after a windows bug I created by deleting ghost device drivers from windows, a problem , my USB were just not working correctly, so I used a image a few months old to reinstall windows and tried again to remove ghost device drivers and was successful this time.

Now to restore my up to date files of Elite dangerous binds & Voice attack .. Problems , the backup software I was using stored its database in Windows, doh!. which meant that it couldn't restore my files

I'm no longer using that software, but using Crash Plan instead after talking to support.

MY QUESTION

I installed your software ,Crash Plan, I then choose what files , and back them up to another drive other than C ( or wherever your OS is not installed )

Windows crashes, I then image back windows from other imaging software I've have previously installed

Once I have windows up and running , I then want my "up to date data" , so I then use your software to restore those files I have previously backed up

Can your software do this "

I hope this helps players , as its taken ages to get back into the game and I'm still trying to sort out Voice Attack back to where I had it

Crash Plan is free. http://www.code42.com/crashplan/

I've used Acronis for a long time for system backups and then cloud-backups for the last few years but have now moved to a free setup. FreeFileSync to copy critical files between NAS's for local backups and then OneDrive with ncryptedcloud to maintain confidentiality for the cloud side. It doesn't take much to setup and costs nothing while providing excellent redundancy.

I use Terabyte's "Image for Windows" for a weekly incremental image of my C: and D: partitions to an external USB3 drive and have a nightly scheduled backup of various folders using SyncBackFree also to an external drive.

I use Clonezilla to backup of bootable partitions. For the data, I backup the same data (in the explorer in real time), on four hard disks. And also on four server on the cloud (Mega upload, One Drive, Google Drive and Drop Box). Like that I am sure, not to lose my important data

:p

Luv the back up plans, I use Macrium Reflect free version , to image my partitions ,and of course Crash Plan , that I used last night to save my bacon when a Voice Attack wouldn't start , a speech engine bug/crash, was able to restore a version before the crash , CP has a timeline like function , so I'm set now
