Backed the game in 2013, but don't know how to download?

Hi all,

I'm wondering if you can help me figure out how to download Elite, because I have no clue. I remember playing it back in 2013 and 2014 after backing it directly via Frontier (I believe - it definitely wasn't Kickstarter). Searching my emails, the best I can find is an email saying to log in at https://elite.frontier.co.uk/backers/ to review rewards, but that page is dead now, and I see nowhere on the site for backers to download rewards.

I definitely downloaded and played the game after backing, so at one point I did have a copy - just no idea how to get it again!

Any idea what my 2013 pledge entitles me to nowadays, and how to get it?

Try logging in to https://www.frontierstore.net/customer/account/login/ using the e-mail used when the game was purchased.

If you had Premium Beta then that includes a life-time expansion pass which means that the Horizons DLC (released in 2015) is included as is the Odyssey DLC (expected early 2021).

This worked, thank you. I downloaded the launcher from there, and can install the game. Not sure whether I'm entitled to Horizons or not (though maybe, since it did mention it in the EULA). Either way, thanks for helping me recover my game! Getting a VR headset soon and looking forward to trying Elite in VR.

Boy you're in for a treat... and then a bitter disappointment as VR will not be included in the upcoming Odyssey DLC "at launch" [airquotes] from the looks of it.

Regarding horizons access, unless you bought a shmancy Lifetime Expansion Pass (you would know, it did cost over 100 GBP), then you don't have horizons. But fret not, it is on 75% sale on Steam right now, as is the base game... Btw. I thought FDev routes people through steam now, there once was an option to get steam key if one wished. You will need steam anyway for VR (depending on the headset choosen).

Ah, thanks for the info! Very helpful. I do want to play on VR, so I'll stop the download and claim a Steam key. I'm getting a Dell Visor (Windows Mixed Reality), and I think that should work with SteamVR.

Will also pick up Horizons on sale - that's a steal!

Too bad the Steam install is 25GB instead of the smaller Frontier filesize. Gonna have to make some room!

Thanks again for being so helpful.

On my drive, Elite + Horizons takes up exactly 21475MB. Interesting. Probably an update is bundled.
Yeah WMR usually works with SteamVR and there are many WMR users here on the forum.
Very good call on Horizons, IMHO game is incomplete without the possiblity to land on (barren) planets. Sadly no atmospherics yet, and the upcoming Odyssey DLC is said to provide "tenuous atmospheres" and on-foot exploration aka Space Legs ;-). Sadly FDev stripped VR support from it "at launch", but you will still be able to use VR in horizons. And frankly, in my opinion, once you see Elite in VR you don't want to go back. Enjoy your trip to the stars, Commander!
