I wish! I've put all my eggs in one Alpha basket. I know there are quite a few folks with 2 (or more ) accounts and also a few that have bought accounts for their partners or kids (aye right!)

If he's pledged the 2nd account to the £80 level its important since it'll give the account holder free life-time expansions. A really nice gift to give to a friend or family member.
That perk won't be available anymore after the app closes.

Alpha and Pirate (later is gift, if no time or interest then I can be also bad piwate, or then with good luck I get from that account a wingman and revenge hammer)...
Even with 3 characters there is just too many other career opportunities and ways of playing that piracy can prevent or screw up. At least when time passes on, one might wanna see these contents too + there is now 5 ways to play even after that one pirate.
Pirate was 42£, and did not include unnecessary add-onns already in my Alpha. And, don´t think will need all expansions to pirate account as Alpha has them, just planets and moving around (and I guess Thargoids-Expansion? Anyway, hurts less when payed in smaller bits).
PS. just got my GTX 680 DirectCU II OC delivered at my door frozen outside and inside (-30 celcius out there), from my behalf we can start downloading Alpha bits any time now to warm up and save my GPU!

Just got myself a second account at the basic £25 mark in the nick of time. Did it as a Gift, anyone know how that'll work in terms of "gifting" it to myself? I'll need to set up an alternative email address for the second account game login etc, will I?

If I understand you right, you're thinking that you only need to purchase an expansion once for however many accounts you have? I don't think that's how it'll work - an expansion purchase will be tied to one account only - so the Alpha account will get all expansions free, but your second Pirate account won't get any and will need to pay for each. Probably.
I believe you are correct.
If I buy a Founder pack ( £150 ) and a second account ( £25 ) then the Founder account will have all future expansions free whereas the 2nd account will need to buy them.

What I meant was that I can use Alpha accounts free expansions to use/see new content, and fly Pirate account just with Planets+Free move expansions, and well, just focus on pirating (and nothing those other expansions would provide for that account).
As I understood, account is still playable online even if its missing expansions, player just cant get that content (f.ex. without free move expansion one just handles stuff at stations from his ship).

I phoned my gran last night who says she can read the future in tealeaves. Her cuppa told her Alpha is on Wednesday or possibly Thursday. It also said Newcastle would finish in the top 3 this season.
