Elite has the BGS , one of the most powerful asets any game could ever wish for , yet I feel that its underused.
I think both casual and core gamers want the BGS to do more , from simple visual and ambient tweaks to changing the gameplay temporarily.
for the sake of simplicity when I talk about the BGS I am also talking about everything else that spawns ''things'' be it ships , mission rewards or wares for passangers.
A complaint that is often said about elite is that nothing changes , I dont fully agree with it but there is truth in it.
If you look at 10 stations in a boom , bust or war they all look the same. they all sound the same.
-Have adverts change based on state in the factions owner stations : if at war its mostly propaganda , have a few pics for every main power and one for every independent political type
-Remove checkpoints , instead if the owner of the system is at war the navbeacon will become a checkpoint and maybe have checkpoints at the entry of stations that are at war.
Spawning of stuff
-Have the type of faction be reflected in its military or militia. When a pirate faction goes to war having them be ''system defence force'' is a bit of a shame , have them be called something else like ''pirates'' ''freedomfighters'' ''militia''
-Wares in missions need to be less random. RNG is cool , but when a passanger wants landmines or the alliance wants me to steal bootleg liquor from a resarch base something is not right.
It must be a lot of work , but if the list of objects is dependent the mission type and specifics of the mission it would be a lot cooler
Random ideas
-Navbeacons , more of them. We see tones of them on the surface of planets but why not use them? maybe ever X amount of LY on a tradelane there could be a checkpoint , a actual checkpoint that could be used in game by players. say you are in a Type-9 and someone looks like they are on your back , just drop at the nearest checkpoint and there will be a navbeacon and cops there (as well as a few ambiant NPCs jumping in and out)
-In genral for NPCs have them act more logically , when they jump into a navbeacon have them start to fly off and spin up the FSD (maybe civilian models take longer to turn on than ours?) NPCs could then intercept them if they are police or criminal and civilian NPCs will stop the FSD to be scaned by the cops
Wishlist
-Glide for every transition , glide into USSs , glide into RESs , Glide into NavBeacons. Glide looks cool and IMO is smoother.
-In USSs have pirate NPCs not take turns to be blown up. they often spawns as if they are ment to be in a wing but they are not and are happy to just watch friends get killed and do nothing. if they are not to gang up on the player at least have them runaway.
-In USSs a thing I would like to see would be a way to simulate the events not being centered around the player. such as having the hull percentage of NPCs be semi random in combat encounters , have NPCs shooting at eatch other from the start , that sort of thing.
-A random chance to have hostiles and dead ships in tourist beacons (within the bubble and colonia) (rather bring back that feature)
This is list is mostly a reactino to the fact that many gameplay elements are going to be reworked and , I hope to see some BGS/Mission overhauls in it as well.
