Forgetting for a moment about comparing the amount to Star Citizen's $35m (£21m GBP) ...
£2m GBP is an amazing achievement from crowd funding (plus private funding too).

Given the quality of the alpha, I think that Frontier are doing great things with the funding that they have.

StarWars: The Old Republic is the greatest computer game ever known if it is only down to development cost.
We will be able to judge both games on what they actually produce, so far I am happier with what I see from E
than the SC dollhouse with its $100 dolls.

Hopefully by March 54,000 backers and £3m. Just a guess.
Even most staunch SC fans will agree that amount stopped being seen as crowdfunding long time ago. It is pre-sale of in-game content, and can be seen as profit. Nothing wrong with that, just getting story straight.
I still see backers more valuable as pledged sum for ED. FD don't ask for pledges actively and there are lot of people still on the fence, lurking and getting information as alpha test progresses. Still, it is nice to see FD getting another 200k in just two weeks.

Maybe theres something im missing but I really thought that the pledged money would go through the roof on the release of the really great looking Alpha. I know it definitely got my attention and I bought Prem Beta.
Prior to this I was malingering over on SC with about 200 donated and the alpha from ED came at the right time for me.
Really would have thought more folk would have bought into this after the Alpha.

I hope SC succeeds but I hate to say it, I've worked on projects with huge 'pie in the sky' ideas and its goin down that path..I hope CR can set that ship straight soon or its gonna be a disaster. Action needs to be taken NOW.
I expect this figure to climb markedly after phase 2 of the Alpha arrives in January.

FD and fan community needs to raise awareness about ED. There's little to no information in US about ED, lot of Elite and even FE2 fans assuming that nothing else than SC is coming. In result only few people know about it outside Europe.
I know FD plans to do their own marketing thing, but we can help. With alpha footage available, it is even more easy
To be fair FD need to raise the awareness - whilst we (ED backers) have an interest in the game it's FDs responsibility. We can only do so much. The wider community is picking up on the game but it has to be driven by FD - I have no idea what they are doing nor what their plans are but it's not very evident.
Perhaps another AMA would be in order ...

Nice sum of money. And more than 42,000 backers. A base of 50,000 - 60,000 backers at the time of commercial release of the game would be great. For now, few people are aware of the development of ED. Both in the United States than in Europe and elsewhere in the world. Frontier will launch an advertising campaign worldwide, at the right time. And tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands of customers will buy the commercial version of the game. And we, the 50 000 - 60 000 backers will be even more proud to have served of foundations at this game
I once asked the question regarding getting more visibility on Elite and I had a reply from FD. They will once the game is nearer release.
What I take from this is that they are more into getting the game finished and released than getting new pledges for the re release.
