Bad Guys Need to Get Their Act Together

One way to approach the problem of low-paying missions is to accept several in order to increase the chances of enemies being sent after you. My NPC crew member and I quite enjoy this.

But recently (not sure if this is a 3.3 thing; it might have started earlier) I have noticed an increasing tendency for the "incoming enemies" alert to arrive after I have arrived at the target station and entered the no-fire zone.

Sometimes the enemy ship actually pops out beside me: "Hahaha! I have you now! Oops... bye now"

This is very frustrating and from a gameplay point of view one wonders what is the point.

It's just the random way they are triggered, and has always happened this way.

I'd say it's actually better now, as most of the times I get an Incoming Enemy alert it's as I enter the system, and all the enemies (it's usually four for the missions I am taking) spawn during the SC journey. Yes, they spawn immediately behind me, the first at the star, and the other three pretty much as soon as I re-enter SC after the previous fight, but that's Ok. The combat is game-play. :)

Occasionally still get the message as I drop out, or even as I'm docking, but that happens less.

Edited to add, but it's a spoiler...

If you want to encourage the triggering of an enemy alert, drop out of SC once you get into the system, and then jump back to SC and head for your destination. On a few occasions that has 'bumped' the Incoming Enemy alert for me.

Thanks, I'll try that. I'm pretty sure the delayed arrival is happening more often now though...

I guess that's the issue with random... :)

I can only say that for me the alert coming either when I'm dropping at the station or even about to touch down on the landing pad is happening much less. Honestly cannot remember when it seemed to improve (for me), but for the longest time it seemed to be happening pretty much all the time, and now it's happened perhaps once in ten or so missions where the alert was actually triggered.

Also, previously on the odd occasion that it came when entering the system I'd have to throttle down and wait for the attackers to spawn, and now as I said above, they all actually spawn behind me in SC so my experience (when I've wanted a bit of combat) has improved somewhat.

I do agree it's eye rollingly daft when it does happen. :)

For some reason, this thread made me think of this

It's almost a seizure moment when you hear a loud Low Wake sound after you have already entered the inner part of a spaceport. Sometimes the Low Wake trail is visible inside the station, it's crazy, lol.

If your destination is a proper station, and not an outpost. had back out the that mean sucker, try and get him to shoot you and come into the no fire zone, where the police will happily finish them off. Only works with a ship that can turn, do not try this in a type-9!
