Balance needed

Hi all, long time player here, loving this game more than any other right now, however doing some sessions with a couple of friends has pointed out some balance problems I hope are addressed in 1.3.

1. Wings in pve are a bane not a benefit, hunting in an res In a wing gives significantly less rewards, as bounties are divided amongst the wing. This makes sense as in theory you can take down large ships faster and thus do more per hour. However the spawn rate of the large ships remains unchanged, meaning much less profit when flying in a wing. If wings are to be encouraged then please give more ships to get bounties on.

2. Conflict zone rewards do not make sense against res rewards. CZ zones have higher level enemies that are much tougher and take much more time to take down, yet the rewards are much much less. Why would I go to a CZ except for a community goal? In my opinion these need to be balanced out.

Fingers crossed 1.3 will have these much needed changes

Thank you for your time commanders

RES are due for an overhaul in 1.3 with the number of security and wanted ships tied to the system security level and a few other things. I do agree though, currently solo is best for profit and open + wings is worst which shouldn't be the case.

Im personally ok with conflict zones since they offer a much higher number of ships but lower rewards per individual ship (although easier to boost combat ranking). I see them as a late game area for players with pythons, FDL's and Anacondas who already have their money and want a challenge. (Although you may be right on this one)...

Go farm strong USS'es if you have so many ships that resource sites aren't spawning money fast enough. Shouldn't take long for three of you to find them over and over. A lot will be duds but it'll be busier than resource sites, perhaps. Conflict zones need to scale reward based on ship pilot level. I don't know why a competent Anaconda should be the same 36,000 as an Elite one. Comparatively it is slower to grind money but we still manage a nearly a million an hour each with two of us.

Hopefully 1.3 will include something more involving than endless random pirates in asteroids, anyway.

The rewards for CG's and conflict zones are not purely monetary. Also, the community goal bonuses are often higher than value of the bonds needed to get them, sometimes by a lot.

For example, I fight for the Imperials in the CZ outside Godel Dock because Imperials are a minority here, and I get a lot of valuable combat experience surviving and destroying hostile CMDRs.

I fight for the Independent faction at the CZ near the other star for the same reason, and to collect (more) bonds which will ensure the system remains independent.

In both cases, the money is a secondary or tertiary goal.

Wings are only really beneficial when you're winging up with random people in res sites or cz's when you would otherwise be competing for kills.
i personally like to wing up with other trades in smaller ships. It's a casual way to help newer players, make friends, and is mutually beneficial.
Otherwise though I feel the opposite is true in helping your friends in a res site. Yeah it's fun to fly with your mates but you're actually hindering their progress.
I really hope it scales more with what ship you're in, your rank, if you're in a wing or not, and how many players there are in the instance.

Conflict zones give you a much higher number of kills per minute than RES. A lot of those kills are against ships that are already considerably damaged before you engage them, which speeds things up even more. Plus - conflict zones let you pick and choose the most valuable targets, instead of taking whatever ship happens to be within scan range like at a RES. Also keep in mind that conflict zone ships tend to have higher combat ratings than RES pirates - which lets you increase your own combat rating a lot faster.

Good RES are still worth more credits per hour imo (unless you get unlucky with spawns), especially considering that conflict zones have a higher chance of sudden pew-pew making you go boom.
