I’d just left a semi-interesting Coriolis station last week. What made it “semi-interesting” was that it was a dark, red theme and had two long arms on its radial axis with no connecting ring. Just big hammers on the end of long arms. I whimsically thought .. OMG . that would be hilarious if someone got hit by one of those because they weren’t paying attention.
So ... last night I’d just exited same said Coriolis station in a T7 with 216t of mining equipment bound for the next system over. I’d just plotted a course to the target system which required me to come about on a bearing of 320` from my exit heading. I cleared MASS LOCK and engaged FSD. Changing state - 30%, 50%, 70%, 90%. Then the noise the Millennium Falcon makes when its star drive won’t engage. (cue sad trombone) MASS LOCKED again?!?!? Thought I was clear of that station. I press boost and 4 seconds later I see a shadow fall over my cockpit. Turned my head left to look out the cockpit window in time to see “the arm” seconds away.
STOP, TURN, BOOST … I mashed the boost controls and connected perfectly with "hammer" … DAMIT !
Took all my shield energy and armor plating down to 70%. To which I said “well .. now, that’s going to leave a mark !”
Not too hilarious when I’m the someone not paying attention. Didn’t go POP so that’s a good status.
