Ban cheating npcs already them        s!

NPCs cheat. Usually it's fine because they're not dangerous. But sometimes it is not fine.

Not because NPCs become dangerous, it's very easy to run away in E:D.

But because they are just SO ANNOYING. Interdictions all the time!

And then there's semi-persistent npcs. And then there are npcs that are spawned exclusively for you.

And then there's cheating npcs.

I can evade players pretty well, i think. I have a few tricks, such as, instead of going the proper way to station you fancy, emergency dropping near it on full speed, boosting into random direction and engaging silent running just in case somebody wants me enough to get into low wake. I know how dropping back to realspace the second you low wake out of interdiction submission can disorient even the best player hunters.

But npcs, they just SPAWN NEAR YOU in realspace the second you get there. They just do. No matter how far they were, no matter WHERE they were, in realspace or SC behind your tail, no matter what's the local gravitational field - they just go and SPAWN. Right next to you.

I guess it is hard to keep the whole instance alive just for one NPC in order to simulate their flight paths, time to arrive and stuff, but still... there must be a way. Cooldown or something.

Please. Such npcs don't have any point other than to waste my time. They're not scary, they're not threatening but i don't want to stay and fight them if i'm on some tourist mission. Send a few cops after them! And not by magically spawning them near me too, no, have them wander around in SC, scan ships and interdict criminals. Unless it's not possible due to instancing, of course, in which case we're all so screwed.

/monday rant off

Off topic, but this is the first time I've ever seen the swear filter used in a thread title!

The issue of spawning NPC's is known about by FD, they've said they're working on it...

Yeah, i was quite surprised by that too. It was a word that starts with b, ends with d and has astar in between. Never thought it could be swearing!

Anyway, i'm not sure it can be called issue because that's game design, but if they say it's an issue, at least they might think it's wrong... good thing, in that case.

It all falls into the realm of "persistent" NPC's/AI, which has been stated that it's something they're working on, but we don't know when it'll be fixed (just like powerplay/military ranks/wing missions etc)

Well I think it is by design, just not necessarily the design they were looking for! There is enough posts on the forum to suggest its not fun for some. At the moment the only sure way of avoiding repeated interdiction is to not take too many mission (I stop at 10 these days) simultaneously and shooting the b?????ds on first interdiction. Ofcourse YMMV based on your ship!

I would be nice though if they followed the rules to interdict you again. On the other side, randomly cheating against everyone does mean, the T-9, with its poor SC performance, has the same chance as a Cobra. Probably want to see that changed as well.

It hurts even if you have just one mission - as long as you're driving something like Beluga. Shooting them is.... not really an option.

Oh... well...

Automagical NPCs annoy me no end, for many of the same reasons as the OP.

By far the worst automagicality is beating an NPC to within an inch of its life only to see it again, seconds later, back at 100% condition.
