Banking system

I'm a little surprised that a game with such a complex economy system lacks a banking system to allow for players to take and repay loans, with variable interest rates, repayment terms, sanctions for late repayment, bounties for non-payment, etc. rather than having players build up their own Credits by always doing missions it seems odd that there is no feature to allow players to take a limited number of capped loans, allowing them to afford new ships and modules, perhaps on a tier-based system calculated from their ranks, and then have then do missions to repay the amount loaned, even though it would lead to them paying more in the long-run it's how many people manage their finances, borrowing to get ahead at a cost. Perhaps a rewards system for regular banking, such as reductions in Insurance to replace a lost ship. A banking system might even be expanded to cover the various superpowers and factions to allow for investment and regular earnings in the form of dividends that depend on if the faction is boom or bust, investors could also gain Infuence. In short, I find the player-side Credit value somewhat lacking in realism given that there is so much commerce going on in the Elite universe – but where are the bankers to manipulate it all?
