Barbary Lion Project

I don’t how many people if anyone is aware but Lions used to roam the Atlas Mountains up until the early 1900’s. The Barbary lion project was launched in hopes of finding enough pure bred genetics in lions throughout different zoos today. The ultimate goal would be to eventually release lions back into the wild. I think it would be really cool if frontier released different scenarios where something like this is implemented . The player would have to care for a very rare animal and selectively breed to keep its genome going. I know frontier does not want to explore extinct animals but this is an example of one that is not completely extinct and having something like this would raise awareness for these kinds of issues.

P.S. wasn’t sure if this should go in this thread or wishlist because it’s bit of both.

Murray I'm all for conservation and realism in the game, and just a few weeks ago i would have not only encouraged this thread but add to it. Sadly, since we now are well aware not to expect torrential amounts of species, and the fact that 99.9 percent of all species in this planet are still missing from the game, to have another lion in a four animal pack that would take the place of a species of primate, ungulate or even bird, is not in my opinion justified, and will end up hurting the game. Even if we could get 6 and 8 animal DLCs, something most other members of the forum deem impossible, I would not advocate for this beautiful and vanishing lion, it is just too similar to the lion we already have, and it breaks my heart to type this. However I can not make mention of this in the forum but this would probably be an easy fix for M__ hope you can fill in the blank, just an idea.

I too would love another lion in planet zoo. But like you said every spot for pz counts roster wise. I hate to disappoint but I do still feel like we’ll get the occasional similar subspecies like the brown bears and wolves. I could see a asiatic lion as they are endangered and some zoos do have them. I get why frontier did the west African subspecies but it wouldn’t be my first choice. I’d also be happy with the Transvaal lion or a Barbary but two African subspecies wouldn’t be practical.

I definitely see both of your points it wouldn’t be practical to use one of 4 spots on another lion that’s not that different. Even before the variation of the lion I would rather they re do the whole texture because it’s awful. Just thought it could be a good idea as a separate dlc or something and it would raise awareness for the issue.

Paul, I'm not so sure anymore, after actually getting my hands of this DLC my train of thought about what they might and might not do has changed quite a bit. When you play around with these items and look at the four animals we received, you can see that the developers put a lot of work into them. They are quite capable of creating much more than what we give them credit for, and the exceptional quality of their work, tells me that they are quite proud of this zoo game, as they should be. My thoughts are that we will continue to receive 4 to 5 animals for the continents and eventually bigger packs will arrive, at a much bigger price tag, and that is reasonable and acceptable. As an example when they do release a birds DLC (I now know that they will, because they have been working on it since before the base game was release) it will not be 4 or 5 birds, how many? That is the question. Down the road we might see a larger pack that includes some of those subspecies you have mentioned. What do you guys think will be up next, my thoughts are Australia in July.

I agree the subspecies could come in a pack down the road if it is a much larger one then the two released. I could see Australia being next up. It seems that is the most requested dlc right now.
