Finally i found my first Barnacle Matrix during yesterday exploration of Thargoid controlled systems.
After long time playing "cat and mice", alot of interdictions while using FSS and luckly less while mapping planets,
i discovered a Barnacle Matix Site on "HR 1358 AB 9 e", a small tidally locked (0.0058 Earth Mass) 0.15G planet
with a 100% Ammonia atmosphere, at just 5209ls from main star.
my Phantom setup is for evade and recon missions and build to survive "Oh, ****!" situations, running cold but
able to boost 591 m/s, silent running for minutes and supply power to thrusters and FSD even if PP is damaged
and working at 40% of nominal value, worst case scenario, aka Glaives!
Module for AX recon: Pulse Wave Xeno Scanner (all-in-one) and Xeno Limpet for science!
Barnacle Matrix site is a nice and dangerous place, but seem incomplete at the moment, like a preview waiting U17,
anyway here are some info i learn in my first recon tour:
Pulse Wave Xeno Scanner do not reveal any biological samples spot.
Hey! maybe the site was a nursery to grow a little Titan, i had to try a scan
No biological data using the Artemis Suit tool, not even Coral tree.
Composition scanner describe Coral tree sack "cointain", maybe sack allow to grow not only Coral Sap.
Many sounds pattern can be heard from different objects and underground, quite scary...
Revenant population can be kept under control with ship Missiles, Flak Cannons or SRV Aculeus missile, anyway they will respawn,
if you destroy too many Revenants in a short time a single Scout will arrive, you can choose to destroy it or hide and it will
depart soon, both case show in my video, i saw a greater number of Renevants respawn if you destroy the Thargoid Scout,
maybe just a feeling, need further investigation.
Revenant can be easily handled in small numbers, using terrain cover to break LoS, but are deadly if you rush in and get swarmed.
Their spawn seem triggered by ship and SRV, on-foot is relatively safe until the site is not alerted.
They move away from their patrol zone but do not pursue SRV or on-foot commanders far away from Barnacle Matrix.
If a Revenant spot you, other ones without LoS will attack you with artillery "sticky goo bomb",
anyway they will converge on you to gain a direct LoS and use their beam attack.
waiting U17 at least i completed Xenological codex with new Thargoid entry.
I will continue to investigate the site in the hope to bring some interesting news.
Here is a video, i cut "time sink" boring parts like "hide and seek" SRV combat using terrain as cover, gathering Tharballs(*) from Coral trees,
try and fail to scan or sample bio stuffs around the site.
