Barnard's Loop

Heya TACO,

Im headding back, the data ive got is burning a hole in my hull, and if I push out any farther im not shure I could get back in time. Passed the Eskimo Nebula lastnight.

Anyways good hunting man, hope to see you in the black after release.

I was just heading off to a nebula near California nebula, leaving Witchhaul which is a very well-known system (part of a rares route). The very first jump brought me to an undiscovered water world :D

I undersand your other thread a little more now. That aspect of playing is exactly what draws me to Elite, and to space in general. Exploration really is your own mental frontier, its yourself you really get to know.

Just wanted to say im back in the bubble, Sold at my favorite rim system O UMa, and got in the green there finally. They give nothing but charity missions there so its been hard to rank up.

Got a few weeks till release and im thinking of prospecting on the edge. Ill post a thread once I settle on a build.

TACO if your still out there, hows the expidition comming?

i went to the california nebula first, and i'm headed over to barnard's loop and then back to populated space in one big ring, so i'll be at it for a while

I'm at NGC 1333 Nebula underneath California Nebula. I've mapped over half of the systems there so far. It'll be worth about 12mil when I get back. Heading to Orion afterwards

I want to add a couple notes on exploring:

You don't have to travel far.
I went from Sol to Diaguandri with my course set to economical. I jump 36 times, each jump I did an advanced scan and jumped. No scanning celestial bodies, just jump, scan, jump, scan, etc. Out of those 36 jumps, I was able to make a profit of 120K off of 23 systems. So 23 out of 36 systems in human occupied space had yet to be scanned on this trip.

Some of the coolest nebulas are small.
Two nebulas come to mind, the Fine Ring Nebula and the Veil Nebula West. I've only visited the Fine Ring Nebula so far and it's quite interesting. The nebula itself is a very small and seems to be caused by the Wolf-Rayet star in the center of it.

I did earn 125k from a single system when I scanned every single thing in it when I first got my surface scanner.
As for not travelling far, not only did I get a water world in my first jump from Witchhaul last night but I found my first ever earth-like after 7 jumps. That was a good start to the trip

Just entering the witch head nebula, I'd be farther along but I haven't been able to play as much as I'd like to.

I'm just skimming the edges of occupied space until the retail release is out....can't see the point of having to do it all over again until then...or maybe, just maybe, they'll have fixed the mining bugs by then.

Hey MoleHD, saw your other post. As for the mining bug, seems like were still stuck on one collector limpet.

Questions to explorers: would anyone like to meet up and explore convoy style around the edge?

Any systems that would make good rally points?
