I don't understand why people like this coaster IRL.
Maybe it's because of the theming, because the layout is not that good, and ridiculously small in fact [bored]
(I know I'll make new friends with this opinion)
Hehe .. you can be very (VERY) critical at times but always in a non-insulting way so dont worry about making new friends [tongue]
I have to say i love the ride but at the same time i agree with you. Im a big fan of "De Efteling" (The park where this ride is located) and maybe you should know the park a littlebit to appreciate the coaster.
De Efteling was never ment as a Thrill park. So this park will probably never host any BIG major league thrill coasters (Altough "Joris en de Draak" is quite a thrill ride) But this park was always about nostalgic value, fairytales and storytelling.
So even tough the ride isn't the best track in the world, the story in which it takes place, the que line, the theming... it all add's to the value of this coaster. So even if i agree with you that it migth lack a little in length/layout, it makes up by being build up in an awesome way.
If you take all theming and stuff away the track would be a 6/10 at best, but considering the whole ride, it's a way way better ride.
(I wonder, did you ever ride "De Vliegende Hollander"? It's the same thing, its a darkride/watercoaster, again with quite a small track, but the music, the scenery, every tiny little detail add's to the ride.)
Needless to say, this is just my personal opinion and you are free to disagree as people visit theme parks for different reasons. Some people just look for thrill, others look for scenery and ambiance, and some will even skip most rides and go watch every show. Every person judges differently. In Short, i think if you look for thrill rides, Efteling won't be your favorite park and De Baron wont be your favorite coaster. But if you look for detailed scenery, storytelling, ambiance .. this Ride is amongst the best.
