Barrier maintenance and repair

I have the impression that it doesn't matter what kind of barriers I use or don't use at the moment. No matter if wood, glass or nothing at all (scenery). The barrier condition worsens rapidly. I need at least one mechanic per enclosure to keep the condition in "green". Does it simply depends on area size maybe? Do you have same/other experiences?

I found that habitat barriers were down to about 75% after six months. So I've got the maintenance schedule set to that and it's worked OK so far. Like you, I've got one mechanic per enclosure, although they're not specifically assigned to that zone, they float around.

Correct best I can tell they decay at roughly the same rates. The reason to use different barriers is:
1) Looks
2) Barrier "Level"
3) Can hold Water or Not

I would add climbability, whether or not you have shy animals & therefore need 1-way glass, and whether you want a barrier to curve (which can be worked around, but is a consideration).

Climability and glass can be set on most any barrier type, so I don't see that as a reason to choose one over another. As for curve, you can also trick any type into being curved.

i prefer to set my barriers via stones from the nature section and then just put the null barrier down inside of them apart from a small piece with the door. dont have any problems with breaking barriers
