I noticed in the YouTube videos that there barriers had a frame around the glass when glass was used. was this just an early beta look or is it something that can be done? Right now if I use a glass barrier the whole section I choose becomes glass, no frame.

Certain walls allow windows in the barrier. Take a section of brick wall, and in the options for the barrier on the right side there is an option to have a window. Click it and you'll get a nice framed window in the wall, rather than a complete glass section.
