Base attack missions - what am I doing wrong?

SRV is the sidewinder of all the ground vehicles we'll ever have. I guess it makes that the land Anaconda as well.

On the bright side, if they'd throw in a couple of simple variants (including one without a turret!), and everyone put themselves into night-vision mode, we'd have multi-player Battle Zone!

We need a combat vehicle. I would suggest a hover tank like in battlezone. The gameplay could be just like battlezone.

Also, I wish you had to avoid radar and fly low and silent running. Then land and deploy your tank to knock out the turrets and sensors. Then finish off using your ship.

Might I suggest a bombing run with several mine launchers first?

Land while the mines are falling. Wait for the splosions and then go in to mop up.

The air defences are really powerful and you need to take them out with the SRV. Don't forget you can repair your SRV on the fly.

The skimmers and turrets do respawn so you have to keep moving.

Good luck OP. They are hard but not impossible.

Those rocks don't help much either.

And a collector variant with surface based collector limpets!

Actually the reason I went back to surface missions was hoping to find another source of mats. My soul can't take another evening driving in circles at Dav's Hope, so I figured I would see if there were many mats in base missions.

All the turrets can be destroyed quite easily with ramming, especially the smaller perimter defences.

But as above God like shields required. Vettes are good for this.

Sounds good. What is with the surface missions with "powergrid" in their description (relative rare mission type). Sounds as if multiple targets either have to be destroyed or scanned. Have you done them yet?

I've never had one with multiple targets. Multiple powerplants at a base can be valid targets, but you only ever need to destroy one.

For example, a mission may be to destroy an "Emplacement" power generator. For a large base (+++) there may be multiple emplacement generators for different defence clusters, and they're all equally valid targets (and will appear as such). But you only need to destroy one.

Just get a G5 long range fixed beam laser and long range sensors and melt the target from 6km away. Fly close enough to identify the target, then back up to 6km and then melt whatever you feel like.

It's going back a little time - I don't do much of this sort of thing - but I've had 'destroy multiple targets' missions before. Had to take out three or four things.

I usually use the dumbfire missiles for that sort of thing. Just hammer the whole place. Reading this, however, I guess frag cannons are probably more effective for that approach.
