Basic roles are still having a lot of complaints - persistency issues

I was eagerly waiting for 1.3 to hit and sort out some fundamental problems ED has since the beginning.
Yet the basic roles we can play in the game are still having problems and the forums are also full of feedbacks about how unsatosfactory the mining, piracy, smuggling are even if they supposedly had an overhaul with 1.3.
Is that possible to take on these very fundamental game elements in the next patch please?

I see how the new elements in mining made some difference however mining as a role is still hard to play long. Regardless of the bits and pieces added it's still not lucrative, still not part of the mainstream of gameplay, still not have any motivating outcome which keeps the activity engaging.
I guess there have been a lot of working hours put into this part of the development too yet mining is still not considered as a serious gameplay element for most commanders. According to the forum posts there's a need for sure to go out and mine but I see much more dissatisfaction than praise.

Smuggling is appearing to be still a question mark, piracy has just appeared on the forums (I haven't tried that) as something harder to coop with.

After half a year since release I would stress the importance of sorting these basic player roles out and make them conceptual and balance before shooting the updates further in random directions.
FD, please don't waste the valuable development time on something not completed at the end. As a player I would like to have all roles to play meaningfully and conceptually embedded into the game world and not just to try them in every 2-3 months and ditch again until the next patch because the game world does not support them with any persistency in general.

Again, we are here to bring up the lack of persistency in ED game world.
Without truly creating a concept into which all the roles are embedded in a balanced way to offer real choice in efficiency and fun for players to achieve their goals, it does not matter how many new elements FD brings to the game with the next patches. These problems will come back - just check a page on the forums. Even planetary landings will not help.

So please FD, start working on the persistent universe ED desperately needs and flesh out and rebalance the roles to be genuine. It's better for all of us if players use these functions you create with joy and with satisfaction rather than leave them behind in lack of motivation. The forums are full of ideas if you stuck. This is something hard to postpone any further.

It's not just you Medwyn. However people have been arguing for more meat to be put on Elite's bones for months now (the whole ocean wide, inch deep argument), so the topic's kind of been talked to death.

Agreed in full.

Are we going to get the game finished now they have all this income from the Xbox release?

No more getting distracted by shiny but unneeded game modes (PP, CQC) and more of a focus on making the core professions that they PROMISED we could play as ACTUALLY WORK?

No more ignoring the serious balance issues with shield cells and weapons? At least 3/4 of the weapons in game are UTTERLY useless.

No more launching updates with inadequate beta testing and with serious issues still present?

Somehow I doubt it. They've got till no mans sky or star citizen come out. Then if the game STILL isn't complete (see above problems), me and many others will most likely jump ship.

At this point they need to stop adding in new game modes and work on fleshing out the core game. There are combat overhauls, fixes to existing content, and additions to exploration, missions, smuggling, and piracy that need to happen before anything new and more complicated is added.

Nothing can be dead enough for me not to try to resurrect.
(I learned this from the best necromancer I've been lucky to play AD&D together with a long time ago...)
