Basic Scanner?

I erroneously sold my basic scanner thinking the advanced planet scanner was an upgrade. The issue now is I can't find a basic scanner to purchase. Any ideas where I might pick one up for sale? Or is that not an item that can be purchased and I'll need to start a new game? Thanks.

Crash the sidewinder and choose free sidewinder. It will come with a basic scanner.

Obviously sell any upgrades you have bought first.

According to reddit, try Murray point in G180-18 for a basic discovery scanner.

Thnks for posting! Yesternight I were on my way doing that too, but I left it for whatever reason, for a next gaming day... So what does this new scanner do at final?

It's an augmentation to the ships primary scanner that gives detailed planetary information. The Basic scanner finds astronomical bodies for you (if you're within 500 light seconds of them. Once you've found them the ships scanner tells you some basic information about the bodies (What kind of body - star, planet, etc. and what type of body - gas giant, earth like, etc.). The detail scanner adds extra information to the planet type (which types and proportions of metals on a metal rich planet and if it's possible to mine it for example).

The more info you get in a system/planetary scan the better the prices for the data you sell. And the more opportunity to get sellable information from systems already scanned.

Ive seen intermediate scanner for 500k and the advanced scanner for 1400k

But are those not just an improved version of the basic scanner? Like increased scan range. So we actually can replace the basic scanner?

While the surface scanner gives you more detail.

Have anyone bought a intermediate or an advanced, that care to explain how they work, and if its an replacement for the basic one?

Got an intermediate for a Sidey and was unable to grab sun or planet names. Sold the intermediate and went looking for a basic again. By chance knocked the silent running button, while sound was turned down, and discovered this bly blowing up. I could pay the insurance and get my old loadout back. Voila it had a basic scanner as well and all for 2.5k

Just bought a hauler, and sold the basic scanner, swapped ship and bought the basic scanner onto my eagle that needs the scanner :)

Looks like its not a standard equipment for the outfitting to hold, so you rely on others to sell one
