Basic ship info from a trading point of view

TIPS

  • For trading:
    • Frontier recommend using an A-Class Frame Shift Drive, Thrusters and Power Distributor and lowest mass on everything else except Fuel Tank. All Internal Compartments are Cargo Racks. Power Plant is the lightest available with sufficient power.
    • The community recommend an A-Class Frame Shift Drive and Power Distributor along with the lowest mass (D Class) on everything else except Fuel Tank (which can be downgraded to add range). I like to keep my shields and have a docking computer in larger ships as then I can have a mini break each time I dock. Apart from that all Internal Compartments are Cargo Racks. This setup pushes my Lakon Type 6 from 18.62 to 19.56 light years under load when compared to the recommended setup.
  • When you trade in a ship you lose 10% from its total value so if you sell / downgrade all possible components first you get the full price for them and only lose 10% on the hull value. Aside from losing less money, you can also buy back parts the station wouldn't normally stock once in a new ship. Sometimes convenient.

Ditch the a-class thrusters. You should just be spamming boost to get around in realspace. My Clipper has just over 17 ly of jump range thanks to the added weight savings.
