Basic system sensors for FC

As for now, there's little reason to control FC from its bridge when performing a long run. First, you have to refuel it, and it's currently only possible from small ship's cockpit (yep, Type-9 is small in this sense). Second, you receive basic system scan only from small ship's cockpit as well. You are getting it not in the moment you actually arrive into the system, but when you're boarding your small ship. So you actually don't have to be in supercruise to get basic system scan upon arrival into a system, you just have to be in the small ship's cockpit. If you board it after a jump when it's standing in FC dock, you'll immediately receive basic scan. If you don't, well, you will leave the system unscanned. Third, if you want to perform the FSS scan, you have to use small ship as well, so there's even less sense in running after each jump from the FC bridge to the dock to launch a ship to perform FSS scan and then dock it and run to the FC bridge to take a look at nice jump animation and then run back to docks etc.

So, I think in the therms of exploration FC strongly needs an onbord observatory. Let it be an additional module costing tons of money as you like things to be, but let it be nonetheless. It should at least be able to perform basic system scan, but it would be much better if it is able to do FSS scan or its analogue as well. Leave DSS for small ships, it's nice as it is.

This observatory will make commander busy for the time of waiting for a jump and free him from necessity of running here and there.

P.S. Yes, and tritium refuelling from the FC bridge is a must have.

I agree, the new interior is a nice start, but it needs more functionality. More things to do in there. It needs gameplay now that the visuals are there.

If you've got maybe Univ Carto installed, being able to honk or even detail scan the system from your chair would be VERY cool.

Agree completely, the exploration capabilities of a carrier should be adressed soon. Also a lot of carriers are in the dark now, and are deprived of every new module, at least they should devise a way to remote buy them or something

They could add a mini game to the carriers to allow shooting FTL probes while waiting for the jump, the first one gives you the general configuration of the system, and then you'd have to fire additional probes for the individual bodies. Turn our fleer carriers into explorriers.

Yes, scanning a system is one of those tasks (along with tritium transfer) that has just become more difficult if you're trying to run your Carrier from its bridge: because you now have to run back through the concourse and hop into a ship, after every jump.
