I'd put the corrosive on one of the size 2's, with high capacity. The size 3 MCs have an awfully long spin-up time. Incendiary MCs work - but they're effectively pulse lasers. Somewhat larger range (1.8 instead of 0.5 km falloff, unless you engineer for long range) and lower power consumption (not really an issue on a Krait Mk.II unless you want to save mass for a better agility) in exchange for ammo usage, more heat and lower projectile speed.

I'm working on a Phantom, so one less Hardpoint.
This is where i'm looking to get at finally. Or something close to it. Basically, I've never used PA's or Rails so I want to gain a little expertise with them with out getting blown out of the sky(space). BTW i haven't said it but I play mostly PVE.

LE power plant! A person of wealth and taste for sure. ;)

If you’re going to go with a reinforced A grade shield then you definitely want to plug that thermal hole with at least one thermal resist shield booster. I would personally choose a thermal resist biweave for that ship because the resistances will be much easier to make reasonable with only 4 utility slots available.

You’re going to want that smallest Hull Reinforcement Package to be Thermal Resist/Deep Plating. That will balance out the hull resists.

I’m still not clear on what you’re doing with those 32 tons of cargo. You’ll need a Collector Limpet Controller if you’re planning on using that cargo space for limpets. Otherwise, only 32 tons of cargo isn’t much for running missions and such.

I figure I'd be using the cargo space for picking up loose (ahem) cargo containers. Not that I would be a pirate or anything like that. I know. I don't have a collector controller.
still have to get to Didi Vaterman to engineer the boosters. Good idea with the thermal resist on the hull.
And still have to upgrade the shields. Then get the bromelite to unlock Bill turner and engineer the PAs
I'll post an updated loadout.
Thanks

Looking for suggetions.
I'm trying to build a good battle Krait.
I want it to be hard hitting and fast.
Have storng shileds
Have at least 20 -30 ly jump range.
Some cargo space.
FSD Interdictor and Kill warrant scanner.
Little heat build up when in battle (if possible).
This is what I got so far. Still need to do more engineering

I have two fire groups, PA's on one and Rails in the other. Wondering if MCs would work better than the Rail Guns.
Just take my Multirole Python and switch it to Krait Mk II platform. The modules are identical except Krait Mk II is missing 1 slot

Circling back to the land of combat Krait Phantoms…I finally found a setup that I like and that takes advantage of the almighty class 7 distributor.

Yep, an overcharged fixed thermal vent large beam. It does nice anti-shield damage and, of course, dumps heat like a pro. TTD is reasonable at both 3 and 4 WEP pips. It could also be gimbaled, but that’s less damage and more WEP draw as the price of convenience, and gimbals on a Krait seem to have trouble with ships dead ahead since they’re set back. The corrosive multi is there for when the shields go down to give the beam a boost.

Going mixed with a large and medium PA is weird, but the two weapons fire so close to each other that you can score module hits with both from a few hundred meters away. I’m always a fan of Short Range for PAs to maximize their damage, figuring that I can always dump the heat somehow. If I’m lucky enough with my breach rolls and have corrosive on board, that’s 256 breach damage right to the power plant.

I’m keeping it nice and light for max thruster performance.

Nice one mate, when I first opened your build and saw the speed I was like 'how the f...'? But it's a Phantom yeah.

Nice shields, good resistances, plenty of integrity and module protection, great speed.

Your shields are very well done, and I take the same approach with my combat ships. That high thermal resist makes these shields nearly impossible to collapse in PvE.

Light, fast and good thermal resist. My kind of ship. Nice.

Thanks, man. For some people the minimum thruster mass is a curiosity. For me it’s a stop sign. 😆

If you really want a fun lightweight ship, an Alliance Chieftain can reach minimum thruster mass too. https://s.orbis.zone/im_h (updated the link after quick sanity check)

That's a light Chief! Mine is a little heavier

Outrider Chieftain -- Rail Boat

Of course I don't need all those HD HRPs, but it'll do :)

And I could go class D life support and lower power plant class, and....

You're the only other one I think I've met here that builds light ships. That makes it a priority, at least that I remember. Light and fast is my jam. I don't think I have a single ship with armour.

I actually wrote a guide for my squadron about lightweighting ships. We call them “Bantamweight Bruisers” since the idea is to be light but still punch hard and take a punch well.

To be fair I don’t lightweight all of my ships, and there are a bunch of ships that don’t respond to mass changes well enough to matter…but given the choice between more speed and more armor, I choose speed every time. I tend to Lightweight my RSC hulls just because of the mass savings on ships where it matters, which then allows me to add mass elsewhere and still come out positive on speed.

There’s no more OP module than a class 1d heavy duty/deep plating hull reinforcement. 208 integrity for 1.4 tons? Yes please!

For me, lightweight is a feature, a design goal, but not the single focus. My philosophy is to build light, fast and cool-running. Good jump tends to run hand-in-hand with those. I'm willing to trade firepower and integrity, as there is nothing free. So whilst only my iEagle is as light as possible, the others are all as light as they can be when balanced against the other considerations. Overarching all of this is survivability. I hate to lose ships.

I've been playing Elite since 2017, but I take a nine-month break every year haha. I tend to play for three months every spring, burn out and move on to other games until the pendulim swings back once again. So I've clocked 'just' 1600 hours so far. In that time I've lost five ships. And four of those were very early on, back when I though combat in an un-engineered Eagle would be a good idea. Or when I was new enough to wonder if the T-9 would be a good ship to own haha.

In the past four years I've lost a single ship, my Courier, to ludicrous-speed collision. It was a NPC named Andrew Knox. I've been looking for him ever since. Revenge is a dish best served cool, light and fast.

So yeah, matching landings to lift-offs is my number one priority in Elite :)
